When I spotted this juvenile yellow caped night heron I felt I had a good chance of getting very close so I got on my belly and slowly crawled up to it. I started taking head shots and then decided to see what I could do with my TC on so I rolled onto my back, pulled TC from my pocket and added it between my 80-400 VR and D200 body. This particular performer caught my eye...at 13 years of age, she was quite a physical presence in the studio despite her very humble demeanor. I was driving in NY, about to go under a mountain that I like to hike on, and it had just rained a little so I noticed the light was flowing beautifully out of the tunnel, so I pulled over for 10 minutes trying to get the best shot I could.
