I went to a isolated lake on first day of year 2013 and by luck I came across to this section of lake where this stone was present and a perfect symmetry was getting created by its shadow. I clicked it and luckily it came out pretty well. Thats why this picture is special to me. This picture relates to the selected theme "nature" in a very well manner. This photograph is one I took as part of a fine art series focusing on figures from myth, legend, and folklore from around the world. I believe that we are the stories we tell, and this series is an exploration of that concept. This photo I took in my home studio in Michigan using my friend as a model. The inspiration behind this particular shoot is Baron Samedi, a Loa from Haitian Vodou that represents death. Unlike many deities associated with death, he is natoed for being especially playful. The Vodou religion regards death as the most fundamental part of life, and there was little fear or doom associated with crossing over. The act of dying was an act of living, and so it was met with festivity and jubilation, and Baron Samedi was the personification of that phase of life.
