Men's Biathlon
Competitors shoot in the Men's Biathlon 4x7.5km Relay. The German team won the gold, followed by Russia and France. The relay is a fast-paced team event in which four-person teams tackle four 7.5km legs. It begins with a mass start by the first skiers of their respective teams. Each team member has two firing sequences and is allowed three extra bullets (a total of eight) to hit five targets. For each target left standing, competitors ski a lap around the 150m penalty loop. All teams start in the first round. In the final round the field is reduced to the eight best teams. The team with the highest total score over the eight jumps is declared the winner. Sweden beat Russia by score of 3 to 1 in Women's Hockey. The Russian goalkeeper is pictured defending during this Group A Preliminary Round. The word hockey comes from the old French word "hocquet", meaning "stick". The first Olympic Games to include ice hockey for men were the Antwerp Games in 1920.

Once a year the community of "Beita Israel" celebrate the "Sigd" Holiday, commemorating their yearning for Jerusalem. It is a day of fasting in which they reconstruct the occasion of receiving the holy Torah on Mount Sinai and renew their strong connection to God.
The community of Ethiopian Jews remained in seclusion for over 2,000 years until operations by the Israeli government reunited them with their people in Israel.
