KODAK MOMENT of the Day

With Spring and Summer come little moments of rebirth, like these flowers springing forth from the dirt. A double exposure captured on medium format Kodak T-Max 400.

These photos was taken when my family visited a local park.

With monkeys all around, I quickly took this shot, in an attempt to capture this breathtaking view of the waves crashing against the cliffs of the Uluwatu Template in Bali, Indonesia. It is in moments like this that the continuing desire to experience and appreciate more of the world comes.

The streets and parks of Madrid are quite lively with musicians and I had the pleasure of not only enjoying this guitarists' music but also witnessing his radiating joy at the Parque de la Montana. Even though I wasn't able to converse with him due to the language barrier, I truly hope he knows how much joy and life he brought to that corner of the park from him and his guitar. 

The photograph shows my partner caressing a cat in our field. It’s autumn and it’s cold: clothes show it. The rain has also given us a fantastic green: lots of grass. The cloudy day provides optimal light for the scene.

Halfway between a pyramidal composition and a simple double portrait in a natural environment, I like the composition, the lines and especially the photographic film used: Kodak Vision 3 500T (5219), with a great latitude of exposure and a wide detail in lights and shadows.

It was the coldest day in 20 years in Fredrikstad. I'd never shot winter-scenery on film before. My light-meter malfunctioned because of the temperqture, so I had to trust my knowledge regarding reading the light. Im so proud of the results!

Right after a thunderstorm the scene turned pretty idyllic within a few moments, allowing me to capture this peaceful scene on film.

It was shot on Kodak Portra 400 120 film on the Mamiya 7. Developed and scanned by @urbanfilmlab

森林の間から光が降り注いだ日。

September 2023, Poland. One day at the garden plot outside of town. A local cat came by to make a visit and of course, get some food.

She is patiently waiting with those curious eyes, almost like she would be saying
"Ok human. I like you and the cat food you've brought me... but I like your food even more! Gimme some of yours. I want the good stuff." 🤣

Couples photos can be whatever you want them to be, even playing pool at your favorite local bar.

Early bus trip, eyes barely opening up, hazy morning, undeniable views.

My son was super happy we got some snow and even though it was only two inches , he made the best of his experience. 

While in Jamaica, I was walking down on the beach and came upon a gentleman selling souvenirs. As I stopped to look at what he was selling he asked if I was enjoying my vacation. We chatted for a bit then I asked if I could take a picture of him and he agreed. I wanted to not only capture the beauty of the island but also show the beauty of its people.

It was a day straight out of an Italian summer dream, sun-kissed and oh-so-glorious, on the enchanting shores of Lake Garda.  You know, the kind that makes you wanna dance like nobody’s watching. Sunlight painted everything in this golden glow, and you could practically taste the dolce vita in the air. The vibrant summer vibe wrapped around us like a warm hug.  But wait, there is more to this day — it was a middle of our honeymoon.

I wasn’t chasing postcard-perfect shots. Nah, I was after something deeper.  It was a special day and for me it was about bottling up the essence of that that Italian summer energy and our youth, preserving it for eternity. And there it was – the magic of everyday life. It was like a symphony of moments, each telling a different story. So for me it is more than just a photo – it’s a piece of our love story that we can revisit anytime we want to relive that magic.

Kranjska Gora moment

A moment in time from an adventure in the beautiful Yosemite national park.

The Shimanami Kaido is a 70km cycle route across Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. The trail runs across six islands connected by some incredible bridges. This was taken on the Innoshima bridge. At 1.3km long it had some pretty special symmetry going on. The light was beautifully soft; diffused through the bridge’s beams with a natural bounce up off the water below. Worth stopping to get the camera and light meter out for!

This is a candid moment of Anna sitting in between a scene during a music video.

I only took one roll of film with me to Japan. And this was the last shot. Took it from the window of a bullet train and thought an unanticipated train station had ruined the shot. Turned out to be the pick of the lot.

Keeping warm in a winter wonderland 

I took a picture of my lover at an old school in Fukushima, Japan.

So, back in 2019 (?) we decided that we wanted to go somewhere else for the weekend in mid January. Since we live in the northeast of Portugal, by the sea, we did a quick research for cool Places in Galicia to visit. We were leaning for places in the countryside away from the multitudes and we faced ourselves with Fragas do Eume, which is one of the best preserved  riverside forest in Europe. In the heart of the forest, hidden in between the oaks you find the monetary of a saveiro (more than 10 century old). Sometimes the vegetation is so dense it barely lets light in. It is magical place and we would blink if an Elf passed by us. 

In that particular Sunday morning the winter sun helped the fog to dissipate and I was lucky enough to shoot it

Walking the cliff lines of San Diego with my friend. Yashicaflex tlr loaded with Kodak Gold 200. The sunset casted a perfectly warm light on her & the oceans blue was just the cherry on top. Wouldn't look this great with any other film. 

My husband and I were watching the wave conditions before heading out for a surf session and I looked to my right and noticed someone else also doing the same thing. In what seemed like a split second I hurriedly picked up my camera and captured the shot. I don’t know if he was prepping for a surf session but I remember observing how peaceful he looked watching those waves dance. Moments like these remind me of how simple and beautiful creatures we humans are.

A moment of peace and tranquility at sunset as I saw the couple walk by with their dogs. It was my last shot of film left and I had a good feeling as soon as I took the photo. Truly capped off a magical weekend with a very special person.

Although the holiday season looked a little bit different with various family members having the flu, thankfully we were all together and helped one another get through it. I was able to capture memories and a game of chess between my son and his grandfather were one of them. Of course, the pups had to participate too! 

I was walking through Waikīkī (Hawaiʻi) with my Pentax 6x7 and a roll of Ektachrome 100 around sunset and saw some people jumping off of a pier into the water. Shot this and happened to get lucky as one of them did a backflip with an older couple watching them nearby!

It was our first picture all together and first day outside with the newborn :)

One of my favourite Kodak moments so far was this scene I shot at Goodwood on Gold 200, it was during a grid walk of a Porsche celebration, I spotted this Playstation 1 livery Porsche 911 race car and just had to get a shot of it as it brings so much nostalgia. As I lined up my shot, this boy walked by with a matching jumper that fitted into the scene perfectly. I love that you can't always predict how a scene is gonna look and that sometimes faith just intervenes to make it special.

On a picnic we discovered a small abandoned place, it was full of beautiful pink flowers pointing towards the sun. These flowers only grow in the month of November and decorate the streets of the City of Puebla, Mexico.

This photo session was my first time meeting Ivy, we shot just one on one and and got to know each other. I feel this photo represents Ivy perfectly, she’s beautiful inside and out 

Holiday

Doggo was dressed up for the ocassion - the first day of the year, signifying new beginnings. He was also such a good boy seating in an adorable pose - I knew I had to capture the moment.

When you depart from Luang Prabang, Laos, this place is only about a 50-minute drive away. The waterfall restaurant is situated within the renowned Kuang Si Waterfall area, a must-visit tourist destination in Laos. Kuang Si Waterfall is famous for its clear pools and majestic cascades, making it a beloved destination for travelers. Drawing many visitors, they can visit this waterfall restaurant after admiring the waterfall's beauty and enjoy a relaxing dining experience.

Deep in the Colorado country side, we pulled over to take in the view. Bates found the better spot, resting on top of his jeep.

This photo was taken at the top of the Inti Punku hike (the Sun Gate), at approximately 4000 meters above sea level, near Ollantaytambo, an Inca village situated in Peru’s Sacred Valley.

Deep within the desert-like dunes of Lencois Maranhenses are the havens of countless, natural rain-filled pools. The expanse of this Brazilian national park is nothing short of awe-inspiring. With so many spots to choose from, this is where my family and I set up camp for the day; feeling as though we were on another planet.
