KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I love taking pictures of my friends. The sun was too bright that day, we could not escape from it. I tried to take the picture while they were unaware, but my friend Mónica just gave me that look. When I take pictures on film, I don't ever know when I will develop them. The magic comes out many weeks later. This picture is a love letter to the sun and my friends Lyzz and Mónica. 

Part of our morning routine in the office is a joint coffee, which we enjoy on the terrace when the weather is nice. I caught this moment with my colleague.

This is a seasonal symbol of winter you can see in Japan. The girl drinks a cup of tea on the bed everyday before she go to school.

I was dying to see larches in the fall and for years I waited my turn. We spontaneously found an opportunity to head to Washington State for peak fall a few years ago and had our chance to walk around these beautiful trees. 

Patrick just released his first photobook, “August,” a collection of film photographs taken in the Rockies across Colorado and Wyoming, only during the month of August over several years. This book recounts his summers exploring these two states — it imprints a period of his life he will forever keep.  You can find more information about the book on his website, patrickkoetzle.com. 

This photo captures a moment of pure freedom. A day when I finally let go of everything and embraced the sunny warmth of Dubai. Seeing my reflection in the mirror, I was overwhelmed with gratitude, realizing just how happy and fortunate I am. I'm so glad I chose to immortalize this memory.

Captured a joyful moment at Covent Garden’s iconic sleigh! 🎄✨ Feeling festive and loving the holiday vibes in this magical spot.

I took this photo of Eloïse and Tiago during a break from filming a documentary I’m working on with my agency. Eloïse, together with her partner Matteo, runs a mountain farm in Ostana, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont, Italy). They both take care of grazing their goats and produce high-quality cheeses using fresh goat milk. They are amazing people who love mountain life and strongly believe in a 'return' to traditional jobs, favoring a less digital life but one filled with experiences and hard work.

There’s hardly a day I don’t walk down to look across the Juan De Fuca Strait. The sunsets always seem to grant a little extra time here. Being mesmerized by the panorama is a bit of a universal experience I think.

It was the first snowfall of the winter, and we had an idea of taking an old gown and shooting in the snow. It was slushy, and very cold, but worth the discomfort in the end!

In photography, it’s that brief window when the sun casts a soft golden light, suspending the world in a rare glow. In medicine, it’s the critical first 60 minutes after a traumatic injury when rapid care can save a life—a sobering reminder of our fragility.

In both cases, golden hour is a call to recognize life’s impermanence, to be present, to pay attention, act where it truly matters, and to find meaning and joy in the brief but brilliant light we are given.

I’ve always been captivated by the way cities transform on rainy nights. As a child, I was mesmerized by the reflections and the glow of lights in the rain. Inspired by that nostalgia, I decided to capture Montreal’s Chinatown on film using Portra 400, a perfect medium to immortalize the mood and timeless beauty of the scene. This picture quickly became one of my all-time favorites i’ve ever taken!

This picture from the Oregon coast captures a quiet sandy beach hugged by cliffs and framed by tall evergreen trees. The calm waves gently lap at the shoreline, while the golden light and classic Portra 400 tones enhance the dreamy, nostalgic feeling of this moment.

I've been to 5 different national parks this year; each has its own defining beauty, but Acadia National Park has captured my heart. This photo was shot on 35mm Kodak ColorPlus 200. 

We just arrived to the beach in Morondava (Madagascar) when we saw children playing in the sand with some bottle caps, simulating a soccer game. I asked them to pose me for a photo and they did not hesitate at all. It was such a candid moment, full of jokes and laughs. The beach was full of life, we had a great time there.

In July of 2024 my brother and his family came to visit me here in Illinois, it had been over 2 years since I had last seen them. I offered to do family portraits for them at the beautiful Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine, IL. I deeply cherish the moments I captured with them during this trip. The portraits were shot my Canon AT-1 using Portra 400.

I took this lovely photo during my friends' wedding, right after the vows. Bringing my analog camera with me was the best decision I could make to give them a physical memory of that amazing day — the negatives were part of the gift. This was taken using a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super (from the '60s) loaded with Kodak Vision3 500T film.

These horses and their local Indonesian riders  were continually riding across the sandy volcano plain and up to the base of Mount Bromo crater. Dust and sand meant the riders had to wear face coverings, while the horses had no protection 

I walked through downtown São Tome with my bags full of film and the camera as my navigation, taking portraits in the streets. Chango was standing casually on the corner and I was immediately struck by his statue-like appearance and his motorcycle, called Swagger. His clothes and the color of the background, his machine, the color and structure of the grill behind him - everything was right and harmonious. I should try to capture this candid moment, I thought. He remained in this position, I kneeled down and took the shot. After the photo we talked and continued to meet.

This photo was taken during the first backcountry ski trip of the 2024/2025 season. I found a nice background and waited for another skier to ride through the frame. Shot on Kodak Gold 200 with Yashica T4

As I made my way up the stairs to the Supertree Observatory in Singapore, I noticed a child watching me intently, his face pressed against the glass with curiosity. I was the only person on the stairs, and the unexpected moment made me laugh. Instinctively, I knew it would make for a great photo. After capturing the shot, I made sure to connect with the family and shared the image with them as soon as it was processed. I hope it serves as a cherished keepsake from their family trip—one of those little moments that make travel unforgettable.

My daughters and niece (the tall one lol) inspire me to be a better father day after day. I make a ton of mistakes along the way, but they continue to give me the privilege and grace to guide them in this world, and for that I am grateful. I guess the good outweighs the bad. This is a moment of happiness that I will return to regularly throughout 2025.

This cat had the attention of every passerby in Kakopetria, Cyprus, where i visited this past September. It was difficult to get a picture of him alone, but I realized getting him mid scratch said the most about his personality. Assomeone who volunteers with animal rescues, I was delighted with how cats are taken care of all over Cyprus. There is a definite campaign to keep animals spayed and neutered, vending machines where you can dish out feed to cats for a euro, and no cats as far as I saw showing any signs of disease. All this came together in this photo, where this curious fellow is glancing over his bench while getting yet another person's affection.

This beautiful wedding took place at Oak, Island NC. The golden hour was hitting just right and the bride was looking over and just being in the moment. I had to snap this moment so quickly and I couldn’t be happier with how this picture looks.
