This beautiful bird is a two years old Eastern Screech Owl and you are looking to his best side. Unfortunately, he was injured at young age and lost the other eye. This shot was taken at Flamingo Gardens in Davie, Florida, meanwhile held by a special handler. Flamingo Gardens is a non-profit organization receiving injured animals and giving them shelter, medical attention, food, care, and love for life. This picture is special to me because it was taken at the Vietnam war memorial and my dad served in this war. This memorial is in Washington Dc and it was taken on a family vacation a few years back. The soldiers that fought in this war did not receive the respect they deserved when they returned back home. I feel this picture shows that there are people out there that respect them and thank them for the sacrifices they made for this country.
