KODAK MOMENT of the Day

This picture was taken inside St.Paul's Basilica, in Rome, Italy. The beautiful light pouring in through the window created this mystic scene, and allowed me to capture the picture using only the available light. As ALWAYS, I was pleased with the results from Kodak film. :-))

Roy Square is really a sort of alley way, with a variety of small shops and eating places. It's located just off one of Toronto's main intersections and subway transfer points, Bloor and Yonge. I was very lucky that a girl happened to pass by and cast her shadow, just at the moment that I was taking this picture of the painted buildings.

I took this picture using a Kodak DC280 zoom, with the 17x macro lens attachment. I also used a halogen spotlight to help with the resolution. Incidentally, the squirrel is quite tame, and is my personal pet . He was sitting on the palm of my hand peering curiously into the lens when I took this picture. : )

We were keeping several baby chicks during spring break from school. I decided to let my children play with them in the yard while I took LOTS of pictures. I loved the results!

I loved the graceful angles of this snow fence, and the wonderful shadows created by the sun.

This was my first attempt at using 2 stacked macro lenses on my Kodak LS443 digital camera. I took the picture just after a rain storm, and I really like how the water droplets clung to the petals and to the center of the flower.

I LOVE horses. I stopped at a farm to ask permission to take some photos; and, not only did they say yes -- but we went on a tour, fed the horses, and visited with lots of other animals. It was a day my boys and I will never forget!

This picture was taken in Times Square, NYC, on May 8th. I bought a camera just for this trip, and the pictures turned out great!

Bharatnatyam is an Indian dance form that exemplifies eye movements and facial expressions. I photographed this talented young girl enacting goddess Kali, claiming victory over the Rakshasas (demons), thus demonstrating good vanquishes evil. I shot this using Kodak TMAX 400 (under exposed by two stops), with the flash bouncing from a mirror on the left on a black background.

This picture of my son was taken during the water break of his soccer game. It was SO hot that day, that we had to find some shade -- and as he sat there, I took this snap shot. Dressed in green, I told him he looked like a 'little green man' -- right out of science fiction. : )

This shot of a beautiful butterfly was a quick shot, with a gorgeous result! The butterfly did not remain still for very long, so I had to work fast.

My son is in the military, and one way that our family remains close, even over long distances, is with pictures. These are my grand daughters! He sent me this picture last year for my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better present. When I look at it, I can almost here them say, "Hi, Grandma!" Currently he is stationed in the Middle East region, and I'm hoping that he is able to login on his birthday (June 12th), and see this as Picture of the Day. I can't think of a better present for him!

This is the most perfect sun ball that I have ever photographed! It was taken at Sodus Bay, in Rochester, NY -- May 2003. I used Kodak E100VS Film.

Shortly after September 11th, 2001, the decision was made to hang an old 48 star parade flag from the City of Mountain View's City Hall rotunda. This picture was taken from five stories up looking down onto the flag, just after city personnel and our firefighters assisted in hanging the flag.

This is my 7 week old Weimaraner baby named Gracie. The picture was taken in my mother's flower bed, which turned out to be a perfect setting to complement the blue in Gracie's eyes. The picture is special to me, because it was her first!

This picture was taken at the Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Festival, an event held annually in Decatur, Alabama.

She knows she'll never be in trouble with her Grandpa, and picking flowers is so much fun! Grandchildren are the reward for raising children.

I took this picture last July during a fishing trip. These hungry birds were just following the boat.

The black "frame" that you see in this picture is a candle jar holder. The glass ball inside it, is a Venetian glass paperweight that I bought in Venice, one of my favourite cities. The blue background is simply a piece of blue cardboard. And, the shadows were created by light from the window next to the desk on which the objects were set up.

This picture was captured on Kodak Elite Chrome, at a wetlands area in Florida. I go to the wetlands frequently to take pictures, and this is one of my favorite ones. I just like the mood it creates!

This picture was purely experimental! I got this idea to use a "sparkler" while taking a picture. I think it turned out kinda cool!

This is a picture of three boys fishing off of a rock, at the mouth of the Spokane River -- just where it meets Lake Coeur d'Alene, in Idaho. I captured it using Kodak Portra VC 400 film.

I went hiking in the woods of Pennsylvania about a month ago. Along the trail was this beautiful waterfall. I really like the combination of the rocks and water.

There is a certain sense of tranquility in this picture. I particularly liked the silhouette of the woman within the window frame.

This captures the joy of mother and child. This picture was taken on April 14, 2003, at the Seneca Park Zoo, in Rochester, NY. Haley was born in Nov. 2002, and is just starting to play outside of the den, under close supervision of her mom, Aurora.

My daughter was dressed up to make a school presentation, and I wanted to take her picture before she was off to school. After a couple of "normal" poses, she came up with this one. The picture was taken with Kodak Black&White 400 film, and then scanned.

Ottawa is my favourite place to visit, and last year I was fortunate to be there during their annual tulip festival. This picture shows some of the colourful tulips with the Ottawa River, and Parliament Hill in the background.

I couldn't resist taking this picture of my son and his class mates -- all in line, ready for the start of their Pre-School Graduation.

It's very pretty~~~!!

The simpler the background in pictures of our 4-year-old son's face, the less there is to distract attention from his big blues. Bubbles in this May, 2003 bath made an ideal frame. This photo makes me recall the neat, distorted sounds of being under water -- back when I could lie down and still fit in a bathtub.

Taken at a 4th of July fireworks celebration, this picture was the beggining of the Grand Finale!

When I took this picture I thought, "this is what New York City must have looked like, to all those who came by ship for the first time -- to live in the greatest country in the world."

I saw these beautiful windows on an old wall, while walking near the Picasso Museum in Paris.

This is a picture of my daughter during her first swimming lesson. At six years old, she is very photogenic, and I love taking lots of pictures of her. I used my Kodak DX4330 camera to take this one -- I hope you like it!

I snapped this photo of a sleeping Flamingo, while visiting the Metro Zoo in Miami, Florida. Twisted-up like a pretzel -- can this really be restful?

This little green bug was only 1/2 inch long. He was living in my irises. I really was excited about getting a good picture of him.

I love sun set photos -- they are just so relaxing! I took this picture with new amazing Kodak DX6340.

I loved the mystical quality created by the mist enveloping the rocks below Niagara Falls.

An elderly lady heads home from the market. This image was taken in Dyedovsk, Russia, outside of Moscow. The vivid colors and interesting lines highlight the poinancy of the moment. This picture was taken from 50 feet away using all automatic controls on the digital camera. I took this picture on May 14 while on a missions trip to Russia and Ukraine.

This picture is special to me because I spend many weekends at this place. I selected the theme "Nature" -- because this is a place where we can feel nature, and the history of fishermen who no longer exist.

Joey Scouts in Victoria, celebrated their 10 year birthday in 2001 -- and this picture was taken during the birthday celebrations in one of the local halls. Scouting means having "friendship and fun." These two are actually showing both friendship, and their smiles showing great enjoyment!

Having spent the better part of a day at an Agriculture Fair in my state, and unsuccessfully shooting the baby chicks there -- I asked my neighbor (who own a farm) if she had any. She replied that she did not...BUT she had ducklings! I feel very fortunate to have captured this duckling in such a peaceful state.

This is a partial view from the top of Putney Mountain in Vermont. When I am there, I am reminded how beautiful life is, as long as we take the time to look at it.

These are wonderful cut flowers that someone bought us called Crazy Daisies. Wild and wonderful -- we sure did enjoy them!

I took this picture in Bombay, India. I used Kodak Max film, and then manipulated the picture in Photoshop.

I love this picture I took at a local farm in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was early fall and this cow came right up to me with a funny look on it's face... My girlfriend began feeding it grass as I started to take it's picture. I wanted to go for an abstract look so I decided to only get half of it's head in the frame leaving the other half for the fence post and the farm where it lives. This is special to me because my grandparents have a cottage down the road from this farm, and I always looked at these cows on the way there. This was a picture to remind me of those nice drives to the cottage past the "Moo Cows" as I used to call them.

This picture reflects a part of midwestern U.S. summertime; T-ball. A young T-ball player has made it to first base and watches with her base coach for the next hit.

This picture was taken at the St. Lawrence Seaway Lock at Ste-Catherine, QC. I used a Minolta STsi handheld and Kodak Ektachrome 200 film. The camera settings were F11 @ 1/180s, with a Sigma zoom 70-210 UCII at about 200mm. I always have a camera with me, either numeric or film. That day when I was crossing a bridge across the seaway, I saw the ship waiting its turn and couldn't resist taking a picture.

This photo was taken June 7, 2003 in a field on the edge of Calgary. Alberta is a beautiful place at dawn. This new camera takes exceptional photos!

I was shooting Pelicans, but could not resist snapping a picture of this low flying Gull.

This photo was taken the last morning I was in Lake Worth, Florida. I'd gone there for a memorial for my Grandmother who passed away the day before Mother's Day. The weather had been ugly for a week before we arrived, yet when we were there, it was gorgeous...as though she was smiling on us as we said our goodbyes. I love the light and color of this shot. The beauty of the rays below the clouds and into the ocean speak to me as an artist.

While shooting some macro shots of flowers in our backyard, this little baby worker bee stumbled into my frame, and allowed me a few minutes to shoot ten or so shots without moving a wing. I'd never seen a bee so still in my life. It is always so wonderful to step out of lifes hurries to capture the detail of something so small and unnoticed. This was my favorite of the series and the detail is just wonderful.

This is a picture of my two daughters, and their two cousins, having fun at Grona Lund-park in Stockholm. I took the picture last summer using my Kodak DX 3900, which I only had for a few months. I was pleased with how it turned out -- because it shows summer, fun and action.

My fiance's first attempt at gardening -- his first tomato! The picture was taken with a Kodak LS443 and 2 macro lenses.

Like many 2-year-olds, my son, Pierce, is an avid outdoorsman. After four days of non-stop rain, he awoke on the fifth day thinking things would be different. I suggested he use this umbrella to splash outside a bit, thinking it would cheer him up. Unfortunately, it didn't but it sure created a sweet photograph.

I took this photo about a year ago of a rabbit that lived at my workplace. Although he is not living now, he was alot of fun. Rabbits are funny animals!
