KODAK MOMENT of the Day

Busch Gardens - Williamsburg, VA does an excellent job of decorating the park for the fall and "Howl-O-Scream" (the parks Halloween adventure).

We raise guide dogs and this is Vings first fall season with us -- and first visit to the pumpkin patch.

I took this at my brother and sister-in-law's house a week ago. I thought it looked so neat!

Every boy, young and old, has that special car they dream about. The young ones, though, have the ability to make their dream a reality.

This is a macro of two mushrooms in my garden. I love the colour which is enhanced by using a mini light box and not correcting the white balance to "redden" the image.

Aussie trekker marries sherpa -- and the result? A gorgeous little Nepalese 'princess' bedecked in pashima. This was taken at a recent family get together while her Nepalese grandmother was here for a visit. A special time for them both, and I feel the photo reflects the elegance and serenity that the subject has inherited from her equally beautiful grandmama.

I really love the color of this flower. We brought it inside so we can enjoy the plant all winter.

This is one of our cats and his name is Stormy. He is camera-shy and the only time to photograph him is when he sleeps. It took quite a few minutes to get up this close without him leaving the area.

While waiting for my niece's performance, which was to follow this one, I dutifully waited in hopes of getting some pictures to add to the family album. Before me appeared, as with each group prior, a line of young performers excitingly taking their places. Although glittery vinyl costumes brightened them like sunshine, that is not what caught my eye here. It was these four on the end of a line. Uniquely positioned, my eye was first drawn, only to be captivated by the conveyance of their own unique experience. I could only imagine the range of emotions and the thoughts that raced through their minds . . . while waiting for the first note to fall.

Stopping to take this picture at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, I was struck by how the reflective surface of the wall pulls you in, and makes you a part of the memorial itself. In doing so, it serves as a testament to the sacrifice of American Veterans, and makes them "more than a name on a wall."

This is a picture of Grandma Ruth who is celebrating her 100th birthday on November 12th. This picture was taken when she was about 1 year old, and was the one used for an invitation to her 100th Birthday Party celebration. The party will bring together the entire family spanning 5 generations! Through the use of Digital Imaging, Kodak was able to restore the picture to nearly original quality. When I look at this picture, it makes me reflect on what she has seen in the course of her life -- from her first job as a "Hello Girl" at the post office, she saw the birth of the automobile, telephones, woman's rights; and a man on the moon . . . She is an extremely strong woman and her spirit for life serves as a role model for all!

We had just moved into our new home, and saw this. There was plenty of 'gold' foliage at the end of this rainbow!

My son fell asleep on my bed. He looked so peaceful I had to the capture the pose with him holding his blanket. Times like these are so precious, I treasure them!

I took this picture while visiting Brigus, Newfoundland this past July for the annual Brigus Blueberry Festival. I have a facination with lighthouses, and the sky was just amazing the day that I took this picture.

This is the front view of the Leslie Hotel, an Art Deco masterpiece built in 1937 in Miami's South Beach. The cantilevered sunshades over the windows are a feature called "eyebrows" and are a distinctive Art Deco feature that is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. This shot was taken just before dawn. I was thrilled with the exposure as the lighting and the colors bring out the details of the facade.

This is my son Bernardo, waiting to be baptized this past September. At 1 year and 4 months old, he was tired of waiting -- and was longing to play with the birds in front of the church.

Although we ran into this by pure luck, this truly was an amazing site to see! We were on our way back from a trip to Yosemite National Park, when we saw this amazing display of nature--fog--and sunset. We just had to pull over and take in the view!

I took this picture in the Texas Hill Country with my digital camera. The sun was setting just behind the windmill and created a wonderful silhouette.

A friend and I were on a trip to northern Montana when we came across this scene. There was a solid cobalt blue sky that day, and when I saw the image after it was developed, it just didn't seem to go with the rest of the image. So . . . I replaced it with one from my file which I felt was a better fit than the original. My friend has since been confined to his home, and when I view the image now, I am reminded of happier times.

This place is near the hospital where I work, in Messolongi, Greece. I took the picture, the Church of Holy Trinity, one afternoon in early May.

Of all images I have captured, this one means the most to me. My beautiful Nana suffered a stroke this year, and even trial after trial, she never once has lost her wit. This entire ordeal has had a bright side, which I am positive she knows of. My father and I have grown closer making the trips together to see her -- finding how we fit into each other's lives, sharing our fears, and putting words to the love we have both always felt. Together with Nana, my family shares a love of laughing, making others laugh, and determination. While my children will never know Nana as I do, I hope to shine on them as warm as she glows in my heart.

As it sat on a table in the sun -- in a fun pumpkin patch in Temperance, MI -- I loved the shiny reflections that this piece of Indian corn gave!

This picture was taken in our front yard -- and every time I look at it, it makes my heart melt. It's the sweet expression on Kyle's face, mixed with the hat and the whole ensemble.

I love my dog called 'Smart' . He is so fine and gentle, and musical too! I like the way he looks in this picture, and wanted to share it with others.

This photo was taken in Pebble Beach, CA. The setting sun created the perfect backdrop for capturing a ghosted image of the tree.

I took this in my hometown on a bright fall day. I liked the colors of the leaves against the bright blue sky and background -- but what really attracted me to the shot, was the shadows on the leaves.

This picture was taken early in the morning in Phu Quoc Island, South Vietnam. Morning is the time when people carry to the market by scooter. I used Kodak Max.

This was taken this past summer after a light summer rain.

I wanted to create a contrast between two materials, steel and rocks. The image was taken in macro mode with a Kodak DX6490.

I took this picture on my way to town. We live 4 miles from town and the first mile is beside the river. If I take my camera with me, sometimes that mile takes me an hour.

A visit to a children's petting zoo offered many photo ops, the best of which was this adorable duo - photogenic matching goats! I decided this worm's-eye-view would give the image the near symmetrical composition I wanted.

After our first snowfall in Conneticut last winter, I set out in my 4X4 in search of a scene that would reflect the beauty and magic of the season. I was fortunate to find this scene...trees heavy laden with snow and geese on this unfrozen pond.

Last year at Christmas, my wife's father and sister made a set of carolers for each family that came for Christmas. They made a nice grouping!

This picture was taken at my vacation to Croatia this summer with my family. The location was Split, the old town. I notice this motive and it was very interesting to me.

This was taken one evening on Broad Street, in Red Bank, New Jersey. Red Bank is a cool place to go walking at night, there's always a lot going on. I used my favorite B&W film, Kodak T400CN, in a Nikon FM camera with a 24mm f/2.8 Nikkor lens.

This is a picture of my wife taken in California. We had a lot of fun taking it to see if we could get the sun in just the right location to make it appear she is catching it.

I don't know why, but just at freeze up this little swamp area turned an incredible blue. Glad I had my camera along.

This is one of my favorite images. It's a shot of the San Pedro Coast in Southern California -- with catalina island in the background. I like how the 4 sec. exposure turned the water into a mist.

While working in the Paro Valley in the Kingdom of Bhutan, I was documenting a monastery that is also used as a school for young monks. Having always been fascinated by the history that one can see in old, worn Asian walls, I was admiring the age and wisdom of a particular wall when a young student passed by. Not realizing that he even saw me, he looked up right when I took this photograph. Not only did he look up at the perfect time allowing for me to capture this image between the white lines, but he also portrayed a confidence and young wisdom that is often rendered by the Bhutanese people.

These candles are part of an Advent Wreath. We love to celebrate Jesus Birthday! So simple, yet mysterious.

This little miracle is my son. He is seeing the miracle of Christmas through the eyes of a child. I took this one night in our home after putting up our Christmas tree. "It's Christmas!"

This picture has been taken in September 2003. It is special to me because I took it with my first digital camera.

The county fair...the lights, the excitement, the waffle cones and the elephant ears--all make a this nighttime excursion worth the price of admission.

This was taken at our cottage in Northern Ontario. It was my daughter's 6th birthday and she was enjoying her new Window Writer markers. The sunlight shone in through the window, illuminating her. This photo really caught her creative character and grace.

This was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park at Big Thompson River, about a week after Colorado received the snowstorm of the century. Part of the park actually received about one hundred inches of snow from that storm.
