KODAK MOMENT of the Day

In the small sub-Saharan village of Mbaakhe in Senegal, West Africa, water is a precious commodity. The older boy is offering water from the communal cup to a young child that's strapped to his mother's back. Candid pictures often tell a story better than posed shots. The picture was taken with a KODAK DC 4800.

A rainy day in the cloud forest might yield unexpected combinations and results...

Taken in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

I happenned to visit a rural fair and saw this stall selling colourful glass bangles. However the mood of the sellers did not quite reflect the splash of colours around them. That is what caught my attention.

I took this picture in Boston, last year under the Coast Guard Building on the waterfront. I used a Canon Elan 7, with a 22-55mm zoom lens set to 22mm. The exposure was 1 min @ f.16. The slide was scanned on a scanner and color corrected in Photoshop. I took this photo to complete my BFA degree in Photography and Digital Imaging. I concentrated on night photography and landscape nature photography while in school and recieved my degree last May.

My 13 yr. old son took this picture of his puppy. He named the puppy after his friend who was killed by a drunk driver. Stansford, my son swears that "Lee" is alive today in his puppy Lee, and that he still smiles at him through his eyes. I think the picture speaks for itself. You can see the love.

I love this picture because it shows one of my great vacation adventures in Morocco, and it's a picture that shows a different style of living. We paid this young Moroccan Nomad about 100 durhams ($10) to lead us into the Sahara desert on his camel. He is leading the camel that I was riding. White camels are thought to be very special, and I was given the priveledge to ride this one.

This photo was taken just after sunrise at a small lake near Quadville, Ontario in the summer of 2002. This is the way the photo really looks. No filters - no digital retouching. A beautiful place!

This was my best picture taken during a week long Phoenix Elderhostel program on photography. The picture was taken northwest of Phoenix in January 2004 with a long telephoto to emphasize the orange setting sun behind the Saguaro cactus.

This is my daughter playing her violin. I layered the photo with another of texture.

Taken down at a group of bolts. I got the idea at work one day, and the picture turned out pretty good.

I love this very special flower in my garden. It blooms only a few hours at night, one or two times a year. The picture was taken in February, 2004.

This was taken while on a field trip to a pumpkin patch this past fall with my youngest son's preschool class. I was lucky to get the shot in as hundreds of toddlers were swarming these cute, furry critters. They were the most popular attraction in the petting zoo.

Every where in Italy the colors are interesting, even on wash day! The picture was taken in Seinna, Italy -- February 2004. I was attracted to the colors of the wall, clothes and pins holding the clothes up!

This picture is special to me because it captures the essence of what Harlem is. Harlem is a historical place, with an essential sense of Community. It is also one of America's most famous neighborhoods. I captured this image in November of 2003.

Babe, Big Boy and Mr. Percival just love to show off -- while the seagulls and I watch!

Taken on the Windsor side of the Detroit River. The weather was cold, -12F, but with no wind the river and ice made perfect reflections. Nature at it's finest.

This picture was taken at White Sands, New Mexico.

This American Bald Eagle was just beginning to cup it's wings to slow it's speed -- preparing to dive down to the surface of the Mississippi River in an attempt to catch a fish. The picture was taken along the river in southwestern Wisconsin.

Taken at a local Capoeira Club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada -- these guys are amazing! They are a great group of people too.

While driving in the mountains of Montana we came across this fawn. I got out of the car just as she sat in the grass to hide. I snuck up behind a tree and had one chance to photograph her before she got up and walked away.

While neither of us could understand a word between us, this beautiful young girl befriended me as my wife as we toured her village in Northern Thailand. She was so delightful we wanted to bring her home with us! We'll never forget her.

I thought this lizard on this colorful umbrella was very different.

The Brooklyn Bridge is a favorite subject of mine. I was out there one January morning and it was pouring rain. Not the ideal conditions for man or photography -- but I was struck by the amount of people that walk to work across the Brooklyn Bridge. This person was walking by as I was shooting the downtown New York City skyline, so I captured the moment.

I love old barns, and had my son pose in front of this one with his bright red shirt on.

Here are two best friends who just love being together! I love this picture because it shows how happy they are.

My dog -- just lying down thinking about it's dogs affairs. On this occasion, I just happened to have my M-format camera in my hands.

I love horses, and took this shot last April at the stables where my daughter and I keep our horses. This is one of the manager's horses. His name is Levi, and he's a Belgian Draft horse.

It's my daughter and our dog running on our favorite beach at Cape Cod. The picture inspires us for the summer! The photo was taken in August 2003.

I took a walk around one of our local parks yesterday and found this lovely flower growing along the creek bank.

Located in northern Westchester County, New York, Teatown Lake Reservation is a quick escape from the rush of life. My son and daugher go there frequently to hike the many trails and climb on the rocks. On this day, running through the woods -- pausing for a brief moment -- I froze time before they were gone.

There is nothing like the combination of; best friends, warm weather, and climbing trees!

A multi-disciplinary team has begun a groundbreaking health mission into the Brazilian rain forest. For a period of eight weeks, physicians and the crew supporting them are travelling by boat deep into the rain forest. The boat is equipped with digital medical imaging equipment, provided by Kodak's Health Imaging Group. The equipment is used to acquire and diagnose x-ray images of tribe members, and to send the images and accompanying medical reports via satellite to a state-of-the-art radiology clinic in southern Brazil for review and consultation. Kodak's digital imaging equipment is in keeping with the delicate ecosystem of the Brazilian rain forest since no chemical processing is required. I was holding my son having fun on a sunny day. This picture captured the essence of that!

Now there's an expression only a newborn has!

In the village of Mbaakhe, Senegal in West Africa, while the mother was listening to the speeches during a baby-naming ceremony, I walked behind the crowd and got this picture of a child looking over his mother's shoulder. The picture was taken with a KODAK DC 4800.

This was my Mother's Day gift to my mom. I thought it would be a nice present. I took this picture inside my house with natual lighting.

This little fellow let me get so close, I had to back off on the camera zoom.

I took this picture at the Dadar Street Market in Mimbai, India. Chili's are a common spice used for food in India -- and this woman glowed with all the colors around her.

This picture was taken at Hardwick Hall, a National Trust we visited on the way back from a holiday in Yorkshire. It's special because I took a load of digital pictures there on the way to our destination, then somehow managed to lose them all when transferring them to my laptop. So we dropped in again on our way home and I took this!!

This picture was taken of my little brother in Napoleon Missouri, with the Missouri River in the background. He left for Navy Seal training a week later.

Pictured here, an old bridge and city hall which was burned during the war in Bosnia in 1992. It still stands strong and waits the day when it it will open it's door again.

I took this picture in front of my house, and think the moment was quite rare to capture. The picture is one of my firsts, and I was pleased with how it turned out.

This picture was taken of my son on our annual trek to Texas during Bluebonnet season. He could barely sit up, let alone enjoy the beautiful flowers.

I took this picture today in Edwards Gardens, a lovely park here in Toronto. I noticed this female goose sitting near a pond, with her mate close beside her. As I looked at her for a while, I began to notice little heads emerging from here and there beneath her wings. And, as I watched and kept snapping my shutter, I was able to get this shot. Just a few moments after I shot it, the mother goose got up, and 7 littler goslings ememrged from under her!

This is one of the lambs of 2004. They are so sweet.. Just looking at them makes you feel happy -- and longing for spring and summer again!

I spotted this 'flower' at the side of the road while out walking. To think that I almost walked right past it. This symbolizes my need to slow down and appreciate beauty in the every day.
