KODAK MOMENT of the Day

My wife and I travel to Europe and share our experences with our students. We took this great wall on the Island of Borano, in Venice, Italy.

This shot was taken under difficult shooting conditions. I took it out the passenger side window of my vehicle, while I was sitting on the driver's side, supporting a 400mm lens on the edge of the window. Plus, the way I was angled in the car, I could barely look through the camera's viewfinder. The picture was taken in February 2005, along the Lackawaxen River, in Rowlands, PA. If this doesn't define nature at it's best, I don't know what does.

Splashy color is the hallmark of this famous nursery in Litchfield, Connecticut. I wait each spring to see what they will come up with.

This white buck is part of the world's largest herd of white deer, who are found at the former Seneca Army Depot in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. These white deer are not albinos as they don't have pink eyes, rather their eyes are brown. A white deer was first seen at the Depot in the early 1950's, and with protection from the U.S. Army eventually grew to approximately 250 white deer.

The picture was made during the Autumn of 2004.

While living in Okinawa, Japan, I was able to attend numerous traditional performances, many of which featured these striking Yotsudake dancers. I had arrived late at this particular event, and the dancers had just finished and were in the process of leaving the stage. Struck by the sight of their backs rather than the head-on views one usually sees, I grabbed my camera and shot without any time for thinking or preparing. This image was what I managed to capture, a fitting memory of a fascinating island, a warm people and a happy time in my life.

This is a street musician playing the violin-horn, an old instrument from Eastern Europe, on a commercial pedestrian street in Brussels. The picture was shot against a shop window, and the background is actually the reflection of the opposite street.

Great Sand Dunes National Park is a magnificent and unique geological anomaly in southern Colorado. Mountain sized sand dunes rise to rival the Sangre de Christo mountains. This image was captured in October 2004. This newly designated national park is a beautiful place to visit, enjoy and marvel.

The winning run against our arch rivals at my son's High School baseball game. I take photos at all of my kid's sporting events.

I took this picture on January 13th. I just think it's a nice picture of some VERY hungry babies.

A close-up of spring! I like the way the two bright colors react to each other in this picture.

This is my precious niece, Ariel. She is such a sweet girl as you can tell by that wonderful smile!

I was fascinated watching the salmon navigate this small waterfall in Sitka, Alaska. This was my favorite shot, catching the fish in mid jump as it fought the current in its relentless determination to spawn upstream. I think the water on the left is overexposed and the fish not completely in focus, but this was a pretty cool decisive moment

Seeing this holy man with his flowing beard against the mild sunlight at dusk was a mystical feeling.

This kitty picture was captured with a macro lens on my camera.

Simply armony lines and great color.

This is just two doors down from me. It seems like all week long this field looked so lovely with a little bit of fog in it -- but I was always on my way to work and could not stop to photograph it. Well on Sunday when I woke, there was a little bit of fog, so out the door I headed and I am glad I did. I just love the peacefulness of this scene. I hope you enjoy it too.

During a summer visit to Cape Cod, my wife and 3 year old son were laying in a hammock just talking about nothing, laughing and soaking up the sun. Every time I see this image, the warm glow of that special moment comes flooding back to me and makes me smile.

I love the color contrasts on this image, and imagine a bird flying by and seeing that little grasshopper so visible on the clover.

As often happens, pictures turn up when I least expect it. I was returning home from a shopping trip to a nearby town and happened to drive past this beautiful scene.

This is a picture of my daughter, Ariani Jolee. I could not resist the pose she was in right after her bath. She looks like a little angel.

Taken at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, in Southern New Jersey.

It was a sunny day-not overwhelming in heat-but bright. Such glorious afternoons are made of magic, as nature defies herself; the cool breeze did not take up the heat of the pounding sunlight above us, so I savored the light without physical strain. The ticketbooth's curving shade stretched above me, exaggerating the lighting even more with its saturated hues of blue, purple, and yellow. A fisheye would be perfect. snap, snap.

The Monarch butterfly was photographed in a flower garden last fall. This is special to me because it seemed to enjoy flying among the multi colored flowers, and I thought the Zoom effect helped emphasize that.

Opening Day in baseball signals springtime.

Dogs are wonderful critters... I can't imagine the world without them!

Taken on New Years Eve, together with my lovely wife at Esplanade Theaters of Singapore. Both of us have wonderful memories of that night.

This is my youngest son Jake. The picture was taken in my kitchen with window light.

These are the ribbon campaign and service records that a WWII and Korean veteran wore on his uniform. Though a decorative array of colors to the general public, other soldiers could easily identify battles attended and periods of time served at a glance. The owner of this rack served from the "Landing in Sicily", through mid way of "Korea", and was a regular para-trooper.

It was a beautiful afternoon and I was so thrilled to be walking the grounds of the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna. I managed to escape the bustle of the city and go take pictures, which always makes me feel great. The light was just perfect and I took this wonderful picture of a young girl feeding the local song birds. What a great day!

I took this shot in Istanbul, Turkey. I was effected by the message of the image "all thst existd on the earth. has it's last harbour."

Interesting shapes and mood created by the traffic lights and the varied bacground of the buildings.

This picture was taken on a day when one thousand caskets were placed in Washington D.C. to honor the soldiers who gave their lives fighting for our country.

This picture was taken in March '05 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. while on a business trip. I really like the colors and the way light comes through the window in the ceiling.

This photo is special to me because I chased this butterfly around in the hot sun for an hour to get this shot. It was taken in my neighborhood in Valdosta, GA. I think a butterfly exemplifies natural beauty.

This picture was taken in Keukenhoff in the Netherlands where the tulips are a spectacular event in spring. The girls are taking a break, and eating some peanuts.

This photo was shot with a Kodak 6490 at Braddock Bay State Park, near Rochester, N.Y. Braddock Bay is one of the best places in the north east to watch Hawk migration in the spring.

This picture was taken during our family reunion in 2004, at Roaring River State Park, Missouri.

Not only is he extremely adorable, he's the kindest, most behaved dog I have ever seen. He is truly, one of those once in a lifetime dogs with his personality.

I found this VW beatle in a narrow street in Istanbul. I was suprised that anyone could leave that "legend" in so bad a condition. I choose to photgraph in B&W because it shows better the situation. One legend more has gone...

A rose called Pink Meidiland.

I took this picture at the Kowloon Park, in Hong Kong, on a rainy day. I was rushing back to office when the rain started -- and that's when I noticed these two people in this peculiar position, and thought it would make an interesting shot.

I think that this is one of the most beautiful photos I have ever made! :)

This is my daughter just before her performance in the Kindergarten Circus at her school. I took the picture outside our home in Alabama in the early evening. It fits into the humor category well because she is so cute and funny and is making a silly face.

Taken at Belmont Race Track during the Belmont Stakes, 2004. I thought it was interesting that there are 16 hooves in the photo, and very few of them are on the ground.

Our mare had her baby in eary April 2004. This photo of the latest addition to our family was taken the day after she was born.

On the picture is my colleague from work. I am a librarian, and surrounded with books every day. As most people here do not read books, because they think that they are boring and just for geezers, this photo is showing that they can be fun too. Photo is taken in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

I was standing behind this veteran last year at our community Memorial Day program. She came to attention when 'Taps' was played and I captured this shot.

I was learning to take panning shots of bicyclists which often ride down on this steep road in La Jolla -- when this girl appeared at an unbelievable speed, and in this very unusual stance. I was lucky that one of my 3 shots of her I took in a continuous mode came out pretty sharp.

This kitty-cat is white like snow - everybody must love it...

I took this shot in Covent Garden in London. This guy and his friend were singing the blues on a superb sunny afternoon, and I just couldn't resist to capture the moment!

I took this shot while on vacation in Panama City, Florida with my daughter and her family. It had rained most of the day, and then the sun came out late that afternoon. When I saw the posistion of the sun, I thought "silhouette". I asked my son-in-law to toss his 2 year old daughter into the air and catch her -- and I got this one on the third attempt. When I showed the photo to my son-in-law, he said, with tears in his eyes, "it looks like I'm catching my Angel that God sent me from Heaven."
