KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I took this picture at home, set up on my kitchen table. To me, her expression is awesome. I am a new photogrpher, and this is the best picture that I have taken.

I was playing with this squirrel for awhile and fed it a few pistachios. It was taken at the UCLA Botanical Gardens.

Not so easy to get good shots of your children...

This photo was taken in June 2005, in Oaxaca, Mexico. Although you see a lot of older cars on the streets, few are as old as this vintage Chevrolet. I liked the interplay of colors.

This originally was a picture of only half of my daughters face. I mirrored it and digitally enhanced it. It's one of my favorite pieces, there is a glow and softness in this piece, and of course, it's my daughter!

This photo is a friend of mine, a photographer. It was taken on Bjelasnica mountain, during one of ours "photo picnics."

Whilst on holiday this year at the Edinburgh Festival, these two girls were handing out leaflets advertising their show. I talked to them for quite a while and they were both very helpful and a credit to the festival.

This is the first pumpkin my little girl and her father carved together. This was taken at my home in Mission,Texas. Isn't it a "work of art!"

I took this picture last year. It's special because I was able to capture this little girls beauty.

An uncommon view of an everyday object.

This image captures the excitement and suspense of sports. Shot was taken August 2005 during a championship baseball game. It reflects action at the highest level.

I came across this little guy while I was walking on the beach. I couldn't resist taking this photo as he was only a couple of feet away. I wish I could have captured the expression on his face when he woke up. I'm not sure who was more startled -him or me.

This is my precious 7 month old baby girl, Sullivan, at the pumpkin patch for her first Halloween. I love this picture because she is beginning her curiosity phase, and is trying to figure out what everything is by examining it. She was checking out these baby pumpkins real hard.

I shot this picture recently, while out on a pretty day in my hometown in Kentucky. The tractor was setting there for sale. It reminds me of the old tractor my Dad had when I was growing up.

The picture is taken at the Danish championship for "Biketrail" in Frederikssund, Denmark.

The communities in our small valley in Northern Utah have a traditional where each has a town celebration during the summer. After the parade in one town, I came upon this old veteran walking home. He walked the entire parade route as the flag bearer. Someone told me he was in his 80's and has been the flag bearer, always walking, for years.

Collegedale, TN. This statue of a WWII Veteran sits on a bench at the entrance to a new Veteran's Memorial in Collegedale, TN. The park has a Blackhawk, a Sherman Tank, and other military artifacts. There is something about this old vet that speaks to my heart - and to me, he represents all that is good about America. I wanted to capture his medals, so I mounted my camera on a tripot and shot from a low angle.

I came across this tree while looking for a fruit stand in the area and thought, ...this is a great area and candidate for an IR shot in the right atmosphere. On a clear summer late afternoon, I went back and set up my tripod and remote in the middle of the road and took several images. The tree acts as a anchor to the image so the speeding car gives it a more dynamic appeal. Digital camera settings: f/2.2 1/5 sec (equv) 24mm ISO 64 - B+W 93 IR filter with ND1.6 filter. Shot in nightmode.

With this picture I was trying to capture a deep saturated orange. The picture was taken with a macro setting on lens; white/balance set for overcast day; and no flash used.

This is a picture of my oldest son who just started high school. The picture was taken at his very first freshmen football game. The composition of the photo makes him look so proud and mature as he, without knowing, is turning into a man right before my eyes.

This is a picture of my family's "camp" (summer cottage) sign in Maine. The sign, created by my great-grandfather, is put up at the beginning of the summer season to let folks paddling by on the lake know whose place it is.

This picture fills me with gratitude for my country. I took it on my front porch this summer. My granddaughter Kiyah, has learned to say the pledge of allegiance in kindergarden this year and is very proud of that. She is learning what we all know, this is a great country.

The colorful glow of Christmas lights seems almost magical. They really do set a cozy mood for holiday warmth and good cheer.

I liked the juxtaposition of two unrelated thematic elements in this image.

This is my husband and daughter on our way to a black tie event on the USS Ronald Reagan. As we approached the ship everyone stared in amazment at the size of the ship. (You can actually see the ship in my husbands glasses.) After the event, the ship was on it's way to Iraq.

This is a picture that I am proud of. I got up early and waited for the sun to light up the bottom of the arches. The picture was taken in Harrisburg, PA on 9/30/05 at 0700 in the morning. It relates to the theme because the river gives the reflection and the sun really makes the picture.

This picture was taken at the Namdhari festival, Haryana, during the month of Oct. It shows the atmosphere of early morning, warm light, and steam, well composed. This man represents people serving people, just for the cause of service.

This picture was taken in my backyard in Wichita, Kansas, in June 2005.

Ornaments capturing the Holiday Spirit.

This picture is special to me because it came out exactly the way I had envisioned it; that's not something that I can say often about my photographs. It was taken in my basement family room/studio in Jan. 2005 and relates to the theme, artisic/creative, because of the abstract nature of the image. The title refers to the circle of confusion artifacts in the out of focus portion of the shot; these were mini Christmas lights on a holder hanging on the wall approx. 16" behind the lightbulb. The shot was done with a wide open aperture to produce round bokeh artifacts.

It's the holiday season, and I love candy canes and just love photography - so the two just go hand in hand.

A picture of my son having a great time in the snow during Christmas. The picture was taken in northern Kentucky at his grandparents house. It preserves a humorous moment during the holidays.

I took this shot of a Christmas display in the Niagara peninsula. I used a 2.5 second exposure, and panned the camera in a swooping motion to the left after 2 seconds. The Christmas display is suspended by cables between 2 trees. I really like the way the light trails make it look like Santa landed on the roof and then took off.
