KODAK MOMENT of the Day

These are my boy/girl twins, Max & Emily at 2 1/2 years old. This picture is special because it just shows that twin bond - and even more special is that it's at Christmas time. I have many pictures of them, but this one just stands out in the end. I hope you think so too! :)

Dreidl is a traditional child's game played during Hannukah. The dreidl is spun like a top and the letters on each side determine what happens. Now you know what those chocolate coins are for!

During the weekend of 3rd/4th September, the first round of World Cup Aerials for 2005 were held at Mount Buller. Being an avid skier for many years and a keen photographer for the last few, I decided to try my hand at sports photography. Struggling with the frustration of shutter lag on my camera, I was thrilled when I previewed this shot.

I enjoy fast action photography and trying to catch a drop of water is harder than I thought it would be. I've seen other people do it, but I wanted to make it a little different by adding some colors. The colors were added by placing colored CD cases on top of a lightbox.

The photo of this Nigerian girl was taken during a Children's Holiday in Istanbul.

I took this picture while vacationing in Paris. I have always seen the same pictures of the Tower, and was trying to do something different. For this shot I used a wide-angle to shoot as close as possible, trying to keep the spinning light as part of the composition.

My 4 year old son noticed these colorful reflections in a wine glass (created by the holiday lights in the background).

It is one of the first pictures taken with my new camera I had purchased the day before. The photo was taken in our small town just before 9:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. New Year's fireworks are a special occassion, especially for little kids.

On the last night of Hannukah, all 8 candles are lit (along with the shamesh candle) and the intensity of the light makes it easy to see why Hannukah is called the Festival of Lights.

This is a photo of my 91 year old Grandmother. I love her and the lovely lines on her face which tell the story of her life.

This little guy is mine. He is 5 months old in this photo. He is one happy boy.

This picture is special to me because I captured - up close - the beauty and detail of a fish so common to the area, that it often gets passed over for other marine life. This picture of a Garibaldi - the California State Fish - was taken at Isthmus Reef, Catalina Island, off the coast of Southern California in August 2005.

This is a picture of my 2 year old son taken last March after our first official snow fight. He had just been making snow angels, face down in the snow! This is him cold, numb, and covered in snow. :)

This was taken in Kanpur, India during my trip in Feb-Mar, 2005. Cows are respected as a mother in India and this portrays her shy nature. She seems to be hiding behind a curtain when she meets a stranger, me. The picture talks about her character.

I took this picture at our "old town." This man was staring at some point off in the distance, and it was the expression on his face that captured my attention. The wrinkles on his face - suggest that he is old.

This chrome wheel looks almost like it has been liquified! It was so shiney!

This is Elias and his father having a good time together!! It really seemed as if he thought he was missing out on something!

I was waiting at the zoo for the longest time trying to catch a perfect shot of this polar bear - and then all of a sudden - it wiped its nose, and I caught this shot in the nick of time! Every time I look at this photo I laugh. :)

The Tug Hill region of Central New York draws snow lovers from a wide area for winter recreation. I love this image, captured during a snow storm last December.

This picture captures the emotion of a 15-year-old reaching for something only he believes in - that 15-year-old is me.

I took this photo while I was in Malta for holidays. Maltese people use to change the color of their door every year. Their doors are very colorful like this terrific blue one!

The jellyfish is one of the perils of swimming in our oceans but here it is harmless - it has lost its power to harm but remains a thing of beauty.

This is a picture of a friend's baby that I photographed. I seem to specialize in sleeping babies as you can pretty much pose them anyway you please!!!

After a great deal of discussion, my good friend Kyle convinced me to take my camera on the mountain. This was one of the first shots I took of him in the park. Just remindes me that a great picture can be taken anywhere and with anything... but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take! Taken at Mt. Hood Meadows in Oregon, December, 2005.

Just happened to notice the reflection in the glass...

I was on vacation in NYC mid-October 2005, and was unlucky to be there during what must have been NYC's rainiest week ever. Still, rain did not prevent me from taking pictures, like this snapshot of an ad across 5th Avenue.

This shot is special to me because I when I took it I was still learning the basics of photography, well, I'm still learning! So I guess you could say, it's one of my first photographic successes. I was trying to learn more about long exposures when I took this shot, which as you can see, is what I used here to create the light trails coming out of the boots. The shot was taken in my kitchen with no other lighting than the green you see, and a fill flash at the end of the shot. I feel that it's a perfect fit for the humor theme as I would hope no one would have fluorescent green "stink" coming out of their shoes!

While travelling on a road along the lakeshore, I came across this snowman just standing in the middle of nowhere.

This picture was taken in August 2005, at Assateague State Park in Virginia Maryland. Wild horses roam here on the beach and through the dunes. On this particular day we were surf fishing and these two horses walked a few feet away from us -- managing to clear the lines from our fishing poles while taking their walk near the shore. It was amazing.

I love this picture alot because it is artistic and unusual. The shape of this flower is amazing, it looks like a sun... :) Taken in Bukovik, near Sarajevo, 22-05-2005.

I like the simplicity of the mother/son motif. It seems to always work.

I never understood why when the Groundhog sees it's shadow it means 6 more weeks of winter - I thought it is a harbinger of spring if the sun is shining. Oh well. For this shot, I cut a hole in my foamboard, and rested it on 2 chairs. Tripod mounted, manual focused camera on a 10 second timer let me get into position. I took many shots - it was hard to get details correct. My eyes would look wierd or my fingers wouldn't be positioned nicely or something else would be wrong. I needed to do some perspective correction in this final version because I had pulled too much on the board, bending my "horizon".

To me, this photograph conveys freedom. Fear lost; the attempt at, and short lived duration of, flight; the extension of the woman's form as if she is an extension of the cliff, as if an extension of, and intertwined with, nature. Taken at Presque Isle, Marquette, Michigan, August 2005. By theme I assume you mean category: Artistic in timing and presentation. I find it more "emotive", this is the closest category.

He is intent on the task at hand, making the touchdown.

This picture is special to me because this is a "Kodak Moment" with me and my teammate during a hard football game. It also shows the friendship between me and my friend. This took place in Fort Myers, Florida.

This is a photo taken in my home, of my beautiful niece in a tutu her mom made for her.
