KODAK MOMENT of the Day

This was taken on a trip to Williamsburg, Va. It is a re-enactment of the revolution. My daughter, granddaughter and I had a great time.

I started out with a yellow happy face and multiplied it in photoshop, making some different colors. I then made a print of them, put it under a bowl of water, and shot away. The only manipulation was to remove some tiny specks cloned out of the water. I shot the picture at home, and was quite happy with how everything came together.

Head of the Charles Rowing Regatta, 2005 Veteran Men's Singles winner, and defending champion Duncan Howat (Pistan Bully RC, WA). The power and grace of this 60 year old champion are stunning.

Laying on my stomach in the wet muddy leaves at the edge of a bog, I waited patiently for this little fellow to surface with my arms outstretched. Surface it did, but not in front of the lens. So I began to move my arms to the direction from where it now looks on -- and when I thought everything was just right, the frog dove again. We played this game for about five minutes, then finally, I thought I figured out it's pattern, as my little green playmate came up right in front of the lens. Without an active display on the back of the camera, I had no idea the the frog was in focus, but the cameras beep told me something was. This is the end result of my lay in the mud.

The flower was gorgeous to begin with, but I added a little something via the digital darkroom to make it appear to be moving.

It's just another day at the park for my girls. This was taken in August 2005. I love to take pictures of them at parks, and they always know pictures first - then they may play.

Racers in an Orlando Cyclist road race show the speed and intensity of a colorful competition.

I waited for about 45 minutes for a bee to come and sit on this flower in my side yard! I wanted to show how bees gather pollen.

This shot represents the hard work and extreme effort required to produce the beauty and grace of ballet.

This is one of my best images that I have taken from my Kodak Camera DX6490. It is a photo of a plant growing in my neighbours garden--a type of succulant called an Agave plant. I love it because it is sculptural and has wonderful lines and curves. Nearly abstract in form and shape.

This is a picture of my son at the Wall of Hope, Vietnam Memorial that traveled to our area on 9-29-05. He was named after his great uncle who died in Vietnam, and is searching for his name.

This particular statuesque creature looks so proud, no wonder our state is so well known for our beautiful horses. Taken at one of many horse farms in Kentucky.

This picture is very special to me because it is a picture of my niece, Jayne, in a very special event - The McDonald's All American High School Girls Basketball Game. The All American Team is made up of the top players in the nation. Jayne received the Most Valuable Player Award.

I've lived in New York all my life and love giving tours to my out of state friends when they come to visit. This photograph was taken during one such sight-seeing adventure. No many how many times I get an opportunity to see this remarkable statue, it always resonates in a fresh way. With this shot, that's exactly what I wanted to bring out, a unique perspective of the beautiful Lady Liberty.

This was taken on the Tel-Aviv Port Boardwalk on a cool autumn night in October 2005. I loved the shimmering droplets of water on the boardwalk, the dramatic clouds in the sky, and the lonesome character to the right, soaking up the autumn breeze.

One of my oldest and dearest friends, holding her 4-week-old son. The picture was taken in studio light and I used a flash. I changed it to B&W using Photo Shop.

This is my beautifully pregnant friend Sheryl. There is simply nothing more gorgeous than the curves of woman expecting.

I love this picture because of the expression in the eyes of the 5 month old baby. Those eyes have depth. Her mom thinks the world of her and it shows in the gentle kiss.

My husband, Michael, and his new best friend. They are like two peas in a pod!

This picture was taken in Leicester Square, London. It was a quite an experince to see rickshaws in such a city. The fast moving bus in the background of a realxed rickshaw puller makes it special.

This picture was taken during a little league tournament last Fall and in 100+ degree heat. I loved the focus and timing of this particular shot.

This photo was taken in Sile, Turkey located on Black Sea Coast (70km from Istanbul).

This is an elephant at the San Diego zoo. I took this shot when I was there with my grandchildren in August. I especially liked the close-up look at his wrinkled skin and his eyelashes. When we look at this picture, we can all remember our fun day together.

Gizmo is a barking owl that lives at Lone Pine, a sanctuary near where I live. I visit him often and he is one of my favourites.

I took this picture while on vacation in Morocco. This Berber girl lives in a small village in the High Atlas Mountains.

I got this shot one night while on patrol. The two Fire Fighters had just arrived. I work as a Deputy in the same County as the two Fire Fighters...we work as a family.

It was a candid moment in the park. The picture was taken three summers ago.

How to stop an entire register line at the grocery store.

This is the third in a series of four that goes with a poem that I wrote in honor of our troops. Fly my son fly free, Fly as high as you can believe, You are not trapped, you can dream... Because of all the sacrifice a common man has-- Endured & Seen.

This picture is special because it not only represents the Vietnam War, but is for all soldiers-especially those still fighting for our freedom. It is a reminder that we should say thank you to all soldiers since they are someones son/daughter, family or friend - and they risk their lives for us daily.

My hobby is amphibians. I enjoy studying and photographing frogs. This was taken 2 years ago in my terrarium. It is the humorous position of the frog and the expression that makes it humorous.

Beneath the austere orange robes, many monks carry cell phones and I-pods. Most that I met were internet savy.

This started as a rather mundane zoo shot of 2 zebras standing next to one another captured at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. I thought at first it was nothing more than a snapshot until I cropped it down and saw the beauty of the abstract patterns of the zebra striping and the way the foreground zebra's back line nicely divided the frame.

While on vacation at Daytona Beach, I visited Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. I was taken with the nautilus effect of the steps.

Kyle Franklin strikes the Mercury Pose while wing walking atop the Jet Waco, a jet assisted biplane piloted by his father Jimmy. Tragically, Jimmy was killed a month after this photo was taken when his plane collided with Bobby Younkin's at the Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Air Show.

The colors truly reminds me of spring. The photo was taken last weekend on a recent trip to Skagitt Valley just north of Seattle. The point of view, in my opinion, is unique and the vibrance and saturation of the colors are wonderful and extremely pleasing to the eye.

These colorful tulips from our garden looked beautiful against the bright blue spring sky. Taken in April '06, Kingsville, OH.

I like this picture because for me it shows the wild side of my lovely pet, and because this angle and framing created a strong picture. I took it during a lazy afternoon a few months ago, when I was trying to get good shots of my cat. It was very difficult to take this one, because I had to stay really close of him with my bulky camera, and he was getting annoyed with that. After some unsuccessfull attempts I finally got it the way I wanted, and I guess I was able to show the beauty and wildness of the cats.

This is a picture of my daughter taken the day before Halloween in her costume. What I love about this picture is it just captures her. She has so much love and it shows.

This picture was taken for me by a fellow Sailor here in Kuwait. It was taken in May 2006 at the US Military Hospital Kuwait. I was raising the flag in honor of my two sons waiting back home.

I saw this wall when driving in Massachusetts, USA. I really loved the colors and pattern on thewall, especially because I was doing an essay for a course about "slash of colors." I wanted to give it try, when just in time - this guy walks by with a red shirt and completed the shot! With the colors and patterns, I think it fits very well into the Artistic/Creative category.

This is something that I liked - and spent the afternoon taking photos of an interesting abstract.

This is my brand new grandson, Cash, in his Daddy's arms. He is my first grandchild, and was born 5 weeks early. He is home now and doing well. I literally watched the transformation in his Daddy's eyes, as he realized this little person was the most important thing in his life. He was amazed at the depth of the love he felt for his son, and I was so happy to have been there to record everything is photographs.
