This is a Samburu school in Kenya. It was a small masonry building with virtually no supplies. The children were showing off their knowledge of the English alphabet. Their enthusuasm was inspiring.

My family and I were enjoying a spring day in beautiful Victoria, Australia. I found this shot in a local wildlife park.

This image features my son in front of a group of children's self-portraits on a wall at Webster Elementary School in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was taken in September of 2006. I am a bit worried about him - he seems to have fallen in with a very suspicious looking group at school this year.

The small boots are following the big boots. It is as if a child is following his father.

While on vacation in Antigua Guatemala, my 4 year old son played with crayons. He did this himself!

Every Christmas I receive petits fours from my Aunt and Uncle. This year I remembered to photograph them before devouring all of them.

I wanted to do something with my slinkys involving the holiday Valentines Day. So I put the candy heart in with the slinkys and desaturated the photograph but left the heart candy...BE MINE...in color.

The arrival of the "Wisconsin" to the Milwaukee harbor fleet of working tugboats is a beautiful sight to behold. Taken in September 2006, she is described as the oldest working tug on the Great Lakes. Built in 1897 as a steam powered engine, she has long ago been converted to a diesel fueled engine. What a beautiful sight gracing the Milwaukee harbor.

How do you look and feel in the morning? Whose face do you want to see in the mirror? What determines beauty, anyway?

After spending a year in China, we exited by way of Hong Kong. The sun shining through the clouds produced this unusual lighting effect.

This eagle is one of two at the local zoo. Both were injured in the wild and are flightless but are still majestic and fascinating to watch.

This is my niece, who has grown up all of a sudden. Seems like she was just a little girl playing with Barbies! I took this at my house, and she posed for me very well!

The only thing this delicious cherry pie is missing is a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top. I love the diagonal lines and the color of the crisp crust. And, it was so yummy, too.

A brother is a friend for life.

The picture was taken as a Hungarian orchestra was getting ready to play at a local minority gathering in a Romanian town.

I wanted to find a way to see the lowly dandelion in a new way, to show how beautiful they can be if you only take the time to stop and actually look at one. The grace of the fibers and the intricacies of the patterns they create is quite astounding.

I love shooting close-ups especially with natural light, and my daughter actually stayed still for this one. She enjoyed the spotlight and I got a fabulous photo capturing her beauty!

Taken in the village of Svolvaer, Norway in June of 2006 on a voyage up the coast of Norway. This was the first real sunshine we had and it came at 10:00 PM. It was a beautiful village and these cottages can now be rented for holidays.

I took my granddaughters to the zoo and they liked the owl, so I snapped this photo. It was taken at the Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville Texas.

The cello, where you can find the real sound of pain, pleasure, heat and love... The picture is special to me because I love this instrument. I took it while I was remixing an old Russian soundtrack called: "It?'s all about him," for some one who is also special to me.

I was taking several pictures of my daughter when my husband pulled into the driveway. I captured this as her face lit up and she waved to her dad.

This Great Blue Heron seemed to be admiring the sunset at a local reservoir as much as I was.

This is a composite of over 30 photos, all taken in succession on September 20, 2006, in the Buchanan Theatre, Buchanan, VA. This is a self-portrait (yes, all of those people are me) that was inspired by a Self-Portrait challenge on DPChallenge.com. By far this is the most complicated photograph I've setup, taken, and edited. I'm so pleased with the outcome too. The Buchanan Theatre was so impressed that they are using it in their "Buy a Seat" campaign.

This picture was taken at Kom-Ombu Temple, Egypt. When we reached the temple, the sun was already set but not totally dark. I was disappointed because there was not enough light for a decent picture. Before we left the lights were suddenly turned on and I got this picture. The photographer at the lower right hand corner made the pillars look even more magnificent.

Leo is our blind pug who failed to see the snowbank when he went outside... OOPS!

This watch once belonged to my late father. It stopped running when over 60 years ago, as a curious child, I took the watch apart and broke the main spring. It hasn't run since.

Here is a picture of my daughter on her 14th birthday. A beautiful photo of her is the best thing I could think of to give her for her special day. Now she can see how truly beautiful she is.

Comet NcNaught: 22 Jan 07. It will be 300,000 years before it returns, so I was keen to record its visit.

I never fail to marvel at the sight of a rainbow, one of nature's most beautiful images. A great compensation for all the rain we get in Co.Kerry, Ireland! Picture was taken in December 2006.

I think this captures the beauty of the Zebra. I took the picture at a safari park.

It was a busy Friday Night in Sufers Paradise, the popular tourist destination on Australia's Gold Coast. I was lucky enough to capture this image of the Q1 building (The Southern Hemispheres tallest residential building) on a night with low cloud which refelcted the city lights. Because the building is so tall, I had to set the tripod as close to the ground as I could, which meant lying on the ground and climbing under the camera. To me the building is an iconic landmark and a true travel image.

This nest was hidden in my bushes. The picture was taken in the summer of 2006.

The eyes of a child are amazing to me because you can see the innocence and the curiosity in them.

I love the hues of green and the spiral twist on this photo.

This is a special bridge for me because it takes me home at the end of every day. Taken in Lisbon, November 2006.

I took this picture during the first Canon "shoot and run" event here in the Philippines. Kids are really fun to take pictures of - they are simply natural! After several shoots, I treated them to a snack. Hope you like it!

This is a photo of Kasih - she is the newest member to the Phoenix Zoo, and turned one on 1/26/07. In the original photo she was coming out from behind a tree, but it appeared like she was coming onto a stage, so I added a red curtain. I like this photo because it is really fun and looks like she is introducing herself to the world.

This is a picture of Hannah, my youngest. I love the way the sunlight catches what we call her "alfalfa" hair. Taken in our bedroom with late morning natural light coming through a window above and behind her.

This is a picture of a mother Alpaca kissing her cria (baby alpaca). They are enjoying the great state of Maine at Katahdin Ridge Alpacas.

This is a picture taken at the Genesee Country Museum, in Mumford NY. It was just a quick shot of some of the boys from my sons 4th grade class, who were there on a field trip. I think it has a great vintage feel.

This picture captures an "artistic" view of downtown Chicago. It was taken in Millenium Park, November 2005. It has become part of an "Urban Series" I am developing.

This was taken in Albany, NY after an 18 inch snowfall. The school childeren had a 'snow day' and were at a local golf course sledding with their parents.

I saw this red fox about to come around the back side of a spruce tree, in a local park one morning. I was really happy to get this photo just as he appeared.
