KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I was taking several pictures of my daughter when my husband pulled into the driveway. I captured this as her face lit up and she waved to her dad.

This Great Blue Heron seemed to be admiring the sunset at a local reservoir as much as I was.

This is a composite of over 30 photos, all taken in succession on September 20, 2006, in the Buchanan Theatre, Buchanan, VA. This is a self-portrait (yes, all of those people are me) that was inspired by a Self-Portrait challenge on DPChallenge.com. By far this is the most complicated photograph I've setup, taken, and edited. I'm so pleased with the outcome too. The Buchanan Theatre was so impressed that they are using it in their "Buy a Seat" campaign.

This picture was taken at Kom-Ombu Temple, Egypt. When we reached the temple, the sun was already set but not totally dark. I was disappointed because there was not enough light for a decent picture. Before we left the lights were suddenly turned on and I got this picture. The photographer at the lower right hand corner made the pillars look even more magnificent.

Leo is our blind pug who failed to see the snowbank when he went outside... OOPS!

This watch once belonged to my late father. It stopped running when over 60 years ago, as a curious child, I took the watch apart and broke the main spring. It hasn't run since.

Here is a picture of my daughter on her 14th birthday. A beautiful photo of her is the best thing I could think of to give her for her special day. Now she can see how truly beautiful she is.

Comet NcNaught: 22 Jan 07. It will be 300,000 years before it returns, so I was keen to record its visit.

I never fail to marvel at the sight of a rainbow, one of nature's most beautiful images. A great compensation for all the rain we get in Co.Kerry, Ireland! Picture was taken in December 2006.

I think this captures the beauty of the Zebra. I took the picture at a safari park.

It was a busy Friday Night in Sufers Paradise, the popular tourist destination on Australia's Gold Coast. I was lucky enough to capture this image of the Q1 building (The Southern Hemispheres tallest residential building) on a night with low cloud which refelcted the city lights. Because the building is so tall, I had to set the tripod as close to the ground as I could, which meant lying on the ground and climbing under the camera. To me the building is an iconic landmark and a true travel image.

This nest was hidden in my bushes. The picture was taken in the summer of 2006.

The eyes of a child are amazing to me because you can see the innocence and the curiosity in them.

I love the hues of green and the spiral twist on this photo.

I took this picture during the first Canon "shoot and run" event here in the Philippines. Kids are really fun to take pictures of - they are simply natural! After several shoots, I treated them to a snack. Hope you like it!

This is a photo of Kasih - she is the newest member to the Phoenix Zoo, and turned one on 1/26/07. In the original photo she was coming out from behind a tree, but it appeared like she was coming onto a stage, so I added a red curtain. I like this photo because it is really fun and looks like she is introducing herself to the world.

This is a picture of Hannah, my youngest. I love the way the sunlight catches what we call her "alfalfa" hair. Taken in our bedroom with late morning natural light coming through a window above and behind her.

This is a picture of a mother Alpaca kissing her cria (baby alpaca). They are enjoying the great state of Maine at Katahdin Ridge Alpacas.

This is a picture taken at the Genesee Country Museum, in Mumford NY. It was just a quick shot of some of the boys from my sons 4th grade class, who were there on a field trip. I think it has a great vintage feel.

This picture captures an "artistic" view of downtown Chicago. It was taken in Millenium Park, November 2005. It has become part of an "Urban Series" I am developing.

This was taken in Albany, NY after an 18 inch snowfall. The school childeren had a 'snow day' and were at a local golf course sledding with their parents.

I saw this red fox about to come around the back side of a spruce tree, in a local park one morning. I was really happy to get this photo just as he appeared.

This picture was taken in Jerusalem at the Western wall. It was taken this year when I went photographing the ritual called in hebrew "Slihot" which means forgiveness. This is a religious ritual which in Judaism we pray and ask god for forgiveness for our sins.

I love that they make peeps in so many beautiful colors. This picture shows diversity! Who knew peeps could say so much....now i am gonna go bite their heads off, lol.....mmmm!

I shot this photo in a cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. I like shooting photos in old cemeteries because of all the old tombstones.

Beautiful herald of spring. The picture is taken in my garden March 2007.

The picture is taken in November 2006, in a remote village in the middle of the Rajasthan Desert. People there haven't much in terms of wealth. Barely something to eat. But what strikes you is the joy of living and their true happiness. This boy, named Ramnath, like many others, has only his school uniform as clothing. And going to school is the only reason to travel a few miles every day out of the village.

I went for a hike and saw this work of art near the top of the mountain. As ice begins to melt and we think that spring is just around the corner, winter comes back and holds on to whatever is left.

As a photographer, I take pictures of other people's kids all the time, but I don't always get to take them of my own. Finally, I did.

Its a little glimpse of the Moon and Venus witnessed by these four trees makes me smile. Taken minutes from my home and a scene that looks like a fairy tale.

I went to look for the skateboarders at Andel to take some shots, and discovered the Hawthorne blossoming at the skate park instead.

This photo of the Guizhou Cultural Dance Troupe from Beijing was taken in February 2007. They were part of the London celebrations for Chinese New Year - the year of the pig! I particularly like the dancer's smile & her intricate head dress. I also like the way she is framed by two other dancers.

This is a photograph of my grandson Finn. It was taken in his highchair. He was extremely tired at the time, but I think he looks like an angel!

He heard our cat outside and wanted to see what the commotion was all about.

I like the green of the grass and the light behind her. I thought it was really interesting because it was shot from above. :)

What you see here is an internal elevator, with an external view of an internal hall, covered with external mirror reflecting the sky :o).

This photo was taken at the rear of a bakery in Paris. I asked the chef to look happy for me but he was too tired.

I always wanted to go Paris, as it turned out it was for work, very long days, the only pictures I could take were at night, but I loved every minute of this trip.

This picture was taken on our vacation to Hawaii. I have it framed in my house to remind me to relax more often.

I took this photo at the Australia Zoo in August 2005. I love the illusion this image creates that the two elephants are one. This image is part of a series called 'Wild Portraits'.

One of my favorite pictures of my daughter.

It's the symbol of hope in prayer, of meditation with purpose, and reverent rememberance. This was taken inside the spanish mission San Jose in San Antonio, TX. Generations have prayed in this place, and capturing the glow of these candles - collectively lit seems to express the reflection from each heart in which it was given.

My son and I were spending the day together taking some pictures along a back road in the direction of Sequoia Nat'l Forest, when we came upon a small ranch with horses... When we approached the horses, he startled all but one and this horse came right up to him and allowed him to pet him. I took a few pictures hoping to capture the special moment.

This horse has a great personality. He even smiles for the camera!

I took this picture while my husband and I were spending a couple of days in New York recently. It was my first visit to New York since I was about 16, when I once spent one or two days there. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning for a slightly longer visit in the new year.
