One of my favorite pictures of my daughter.

It's the symbol of hope in prayer, of meditation with purpose, and reverent rememberance. This was taken inside the spanish mission San Jose in San Antonio, TX. Generations have prayed in this place, and capturing the glow of these candles - collectively lit seems to express the reflection from each heart in which it was given.

My son and I were spending the day together taking some pictures along a back road in the direction of Sequoia Nat'l Forest, when we came upon a small ranch with horses... When we approached the horses, he startled all but one and this horse came right up to him and allowed him to pet him. I took a few pictures hoping to capture the special moment.

This horse has a great personality. He even smiles for the camera!

I took this picture while my husband and I were spending a couple of days in New York recently. It was my first visit to New York since I was about 16, when I once spent one or two days there. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning for a slightly longer visit in the new year.

When I saw the scene I could not help, but take a picture. Soon after that, I realized that it took people a while to notice that there was a man asking for money.

Isn't nature amazing in its design. I look at these veins or xylem Phloem (whatever one wants to call them) and I see a beautiful weaving of life lines.

This is my good friend Paul -- he's an incredible rider. I took this image of him as I was standing on the landing ramp and he was coming in. I positioned him in the clouds so the formation was coming from behind. I thought it gave it a neat effect.

An adorable pair for one's love. Add chocolates for a slam-dunk. Then she will believe you when you say "I'm sorry!"

I love Tulips and this one was lots of fun to shoot! Makes me forget about the rain. It was taken in March 2007. Washington State.

These boys are so poor. But, they have a dream to get to college one day. They've learned how to read and write by themselves.

We got up early to catch the sunrise at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley. Brrrrr! But the intrepid photographers were lined up and capturing great images.

Hanging from the top of the swingset shooting down to capture this image will always be memorable to me...as it was exhausting. She loved it and so did I. :)

It is interesting photo to me. Long red tongue of black dog, nice sky, unusual composition... This picture was taken in the street - maybe 2 years ago.

The hike was really tough but well worth it!! These are some of the prettiest falls in middle Tennessee!!

I went to see the Lunar New Year's Festival in China Town in Philadelphia. While waiting for the dragons to arrive, I took several shots of the people waiting and walking around the area. This is one of them. The child's hat caught my eye and I turned around and managed to get one shot and it turned okay. Happy Year of the Pig!

My little daughter wearing her "new" favorite color, which changes weekly. :)

This picture was taken at the San Francisco Zoo one Saturday afternoon. As I looked through the viewfinder, I saw the look on this great male silverback gorilla. His name is OJ and he's been at the zoo since he was a baby. He has never known any other place except for this but somehow I feel that he longs for home. I got so sad looking at his eyes. Needless to say, this strong aplha male gorilla touched my heart in more ways than one.

This photo was taken up at Port Renfrew, (Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada) where there is a big surfing community. I love this late afternoon shot because it demostrates challenges that bring excitement and fun.

This picture symbolizes all people who have died for our country, and have fought for our freedom, which unfortunately some people take for granted.

Taken at Magic Wings Butterfly Museum in Deerfield, MA on a rainy day - but inside it was warm and the air was filled with butterflies.

My son Heath, was genuinely proud of the names he was reading on the Vietnam Wall. By his feet, someone had just left the flowers for their family. It was touching.

I love California poppies! This particular image, to me, gets close to showing the essense of a California poppy, their beautiful colour, their delicate shape. These poppies are also a sure sign of Summer, thus the title. The image was made in late June of 2006, indoors, by a sunny window, in Trail, British Columbia, Canada. As for how it relates to the "Artistic/Creative" category, it is, simply, an ordinary little flower presented in all it's beauty.

I like the setting with the silhouetted figures in the canoes and the trees. Taken, summer 2006, Olympic National Park, WA. I placed it in the category Artistic/Creative because I converted it to B & W. The color version had basically no impact, however converting to B & W allowed improving contrasts without worrying about distorting colors.

Spring is everywhere and so are the wonderful fields of buttercups. This is my son Alon, my little buttercup, in the buttercup picking fields.

The blackbird is a socially integrated bird that will build its nest directly over doors and hide its nest in public places, but this is the blackbird's secret.

I took this photo in February 2007 in Muizenberg, South Africa. It was a beautiful day in a stunningly scenic part of the world. These colourful beach huts look so vivid against the clear blue sky. This is a great reminder of a wonderful holiday!

She is a beautiful, soft, loving kid and this photo shows it all! She's just relaxing in the grass...

This is a compilation of several photos. All were shot in Chandler, Arizona on a rainy morning. I think it relates to the Artistic/ Creative theme because it allowed me to be creative on a "rainy day" with my photography.

My wife is a professional ballet dancer with the Boston Ballet, and I took this photograph of her in the ballet studio during her practice. I love the photograph for it's lighting and composition--but it's my wife who is the main subject. She makes the photo real by fixing her pointe shoes.

What a beauty she is! As a military spouse there is no sight more beautiful than our flag flying high to remind us what our soldiers are fighting for.

I recently had the privilege of photographing a former skipper of a PT boat during WWII. He piloted a small craft in the Pacific for nearly a year and had some terrific sea tales....especially being "...the only PT boat commander who didn't know JFK personally." SC1051 was the name assigned to his vessel. He just happened to be my American History professor 20 years ago this year. Great fellow!

This den is across the drive and just in back of my house. The fox had 8 babies which is quit unusual. This little guy didn't mind my walking by and taking pictures. They were so much fun to watch playing in the sun.

I took this picture at a local duck pond about a week ago. The little ducks were really cute. It relates to category "animals" because it's a picture of animals -- but it also goes along with the nature theme, being that the ducks are in their natural environment.

I love this photo because of the real happiness that you can feel from their smile. I took it on the last Thursday before Easter, on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, Israel.

This is my daughter Abbie after an afternoon bath, taken at home. She is my youngest daughter.

I saw this scene and had exactly this picture in my mind's eye. But it was very hard to take exactly this shot.
