This was a still life I took because the lighting was so nice in my window on this day. I love the way the light was hitting the fruit.

I'm fascinated with flamingos, and when we are in Florida, I take tons of shots of them. I really like the way this one turned out, he is peeking at me.

My son and I are so close, that even though we're two, we are bonded together.

I live close to Yellowstone and frequently photograph this subject. On this day (7/31/07) I was showing friends around and had no intention of taking anything but snapshots. However...conditions were pretty good that day. Sometimes you just get lucky!

This is my little girl pondering the life of a three year old...such as which teddy bear should I snuggle with tonight, should I have regular milk or chocolate, pigtails or braids, peanut butter and jelly or grilled cheese...and so on and so on! :) You know deep thinking life questions!

I like old boats and reflections. This photo was taken at the Saint Augustine, Florida lighthouse last April. Saint Augustine is a big vacation area.

In Memory 9/23/07: Receiving word that a photo will be featured at Kodak is a happy occasion, although news that this photo would be featured evoked some initial anxiety. The gentleman being shaved by his son, is a dear friend named Bruce. He fought in the D-Day invasion during WW II as a young man, and lived his life to its fullest for the next six decades. The reason for my reservation was that the day I received the POTD news, I also received word that Bruce had just passed away. My first thoughts were of Bruce's family, and their thoughts regarding having his image appear as POTD. We decided that being the fun loving, young at heart, character that Bruce was, he'd probably relish getting a special "good-bye" at Times Square. So, this one's for Bruce .... if you'd known him, you'd have loved him too!

These bubbles along the stem of this leaf, underwater in our creek, were an interesting find. Taken November 2006, Kingsville, OH.

I asked the kids at the local skatepark if I could shoot them, and they really put on a show! This was taken August 2007 at The Cage, Conneaut, OH.

My husband and I woke up early enough to get ready and drive to Lancaster, CA by 6:00 a.m. to watch the hot air balloons get filled and launched. I've always wanted a chance to see hot air balloons in person. Watching the people at work (play), hearing the special new sounds and seeing the HUGE colorful ballons . . . I was certainly not disappointed!

This photo was taken at our local elemetary school. Our town was suffering through a heatwave and drought at the time, yet these magnificant sunflowers that lined the parking lot leading to the school were standing tall and proud to welcome the children back to school.

I took this picture just after I finished work - around 11 PM. The location is Harbor Island, San Diego, CA. I like it because it is so dramatic, and shows the beauty of my city.

This is our little lake in our backyard. In the Fall and Spring at sunrise, I have the opportunity to see scenes like this. I took this in April 2007 while leaving for work, literally stopped my truck in the middle of the road and grabbed my camera. I took about 8 shots. When I started shooting these two Canadian Geese joined the scene, and I kept saying to myself, "please don't swim too fast...slow down, good, etc." Timing is everything...

I loved how the stage lighting created a Rembrandt effect. The gentleman is a member of a group of musicians and singers called "Everyday People."

This picture was taken in August 2007 in Canton, Ohio, while at a farmers market with my wife.

The aspens are turning in Colorado, so I made a trip up to see them. They're one of my favorite things about living here.

The air was so still for the afternoon launch at the 25th Annual QuickChek Balloon Festival in New Jersey that the ballons stayed very close to the launch site. This made for terrific photo opportunities.

This photo was taken to show a leaf with water on it, in high detail.

We hadn't had rain in Oklahoma for months. It had been so dry and was finally going to rain. I decided to take this shot, just in case it would be another 3 months. Didn't want to forget what it looked like!!

I was on vacation in Rome and the man in this photo looked out of his hotel window right as I snapped this picture. I was in such awe of the piazza I was in, I didn't even notice the man in the picture until I got home and printed my photos!

In the country along the backroads is this barn. I love the way the road winds just a bit. I added the cat for a fun twist and desaturated most of the colors but the yellows and a bit of the green. Taken in: Moscow, PA

I love this picture because this is exactly how it looked to me when I was taking it. It is my daughter holding a wheel barrow in the garage.

This is a rare white Bengal Tiger who likes to swim at a park in Oakland, CA.

I took this picture for a photography challenge. The challenge was a self portrait. I just took some dirt from the backyard, mixed water with it, and smeared it all over my face. The picture is special to me because it is the first image that I had printed and framed. My parents have it in their house.

I was visiting NYC for a meeting and had some time before it, so I went to the top of Rockefeller Center to see the view and shoot some pictures. It was late in the day, very cold and cloudy, and then this incredible sunset unfolded. I stayed for the whole sunset exposed to the elements--my fingers were numb when I finally went inside (and I was wearing gloves!)!

This is my daughters picture. It was taken in the evening in the backyard of my house. The mood of my daughter is so nice, and the evening sun was a great help in creating this picture.

This is taken inside a building in downtown Copenhagen in March 2007. I have tried to shoot there before, but there were some spotlights in the way, so it was very difficult. I did wish that I had a wider lens than my 24-85mm as that would have made it possible for me to catch all the balconies, but as this is my widest lens, I had to improvise and thus this rather creative and artistic angle.

This is a tunnel underneath the Detroit Airport. It is fun to stare at and think about the vacation that I took it on. Spring 2007.

There is nothin' better than Autumn in the Midwest! ...according to this Ohio-girl anyway! :)

I captured this image of a Green Mamba behind glass at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens. I love the vibrant color and the water droplets from the shower it had just received.

Red Maple leaves are quickly fading from red to green as spring is here to stay. The leaves are in their transitional subtle colors, and are backlit by the sun. In the background is the bark of a very old tree which has seen many springs.

This picture is a reflection of boredom that arises on roadtrips! I took it in the car, and it's meant to be a creative spin on the usual roadtrip pictures! It relates to the category I selected because it is creative - not something you always see.

This photo is taken in Alice Springs, Central Australia from Anzac Hill in town. I moved to Central Australia in May 2006 from Holland, where you just don't see such fabulous lightning. I waited months for a spectacular shot like this!

This picture is special to me because it is my son. This was taken at a local rodeo during the summer of 2007. My son has been riding since he was 4 years old. And still I pray everytime he gets on.

This is the Wellville Mountains in Utah, after the first snow, leaves in full color. It was amazing to see.

We enjoy the reenactment of the battle of Barbourville, a U.S. Civil War skirmish in our town in Kentucky. I took the picture in September 2007. It is an exciting yearly event in our town.

This picture is special to me because it is a beautiful capture of my husband and son. I also like the fact that it represents both the present and the future of our country. It was taken in August of 2007, in our home.
