This is our little lake in our backyard. In the Fall and Spring at sunrise, I have the opportunity to see scenes like this. I took this in April 2007 while leaving for work, literally stopped my truck in the middle of the road and grabbed my camera. I took about 8 shots. When I started shooting these two Canadian Geese joined the scene, and I kept saying to myself, "please don't swim too fast...slow down, good, etc." Timing is everything...

I loved how the stage lighting created a Rembrandt effect. The gentleman is a member of a group of musicians and singers called "Everyday People."

This picture was taken in August 2007 in Canton, Ohio, while at a farmers market with my wife.

The aspens are turning in Colorado, so I made a trip up to see them. They're one of my favorite things about living here.

The air was so still for the afternoon launch at the 25th Annual QuickChek Balloon Festival in New Jersey that the ballons stayed very close to the launch site. This made for terrific photo opportunities.

This photo was taken to show a leaf with water on it, in high detail.

This is my friend Jeremy's first child, Tucker. Welcome to the world, Tucker!

We hadn't had rain in Oklahoma for months. It had been so dry and was finally going to rain. I decided to take this shot, just in case it would be another 3 months. Didn't want to forget what it looked like!!

This picture shows the amazing and interesting culture of India and depicts India's many photogenic people. Taken in Pushkar, India, 2006.

I was on vacation in Rome and the man in this photo looked out of his hotel window right as I snapped this picture. I was in such awe of the piazza I was in, I didn't even notice the man in the picture until I got home and printed my photos!

In the country along the backroads is this barn. I love the way the road winds just a bit. I added the cat for a fun twist and desaturated most of the colors but the yellows and a bit of the green. Taken in: Moscow, PA

I love this picture because this is exactly how it looked to me when I was taking it. It is my daughter holding a wheel barrow in the garage.

This is a rare white Bengal Tiger who likes to swim at a park in Oakland, CA.

I took this picture for a photography challenge. The challenge was a self portrait. I just took some dirt from the backyard, mixed water with it, and smeared it all over my face. The picture is special to me because it is the first image that I had printed and framed. My parents have it in their house.

I was visiting NYC for a meeting and had some time before it, so I went to the top of Rockefeller Center to see the view and shoot some pictures. It was late in the day, very cold and cloudy, and then this incredible sunset unfolded. I stayed for the whole sunset exposed to the elements--my fingers were numb when I finally went inside (and I was wearing gloves!)!

This is my daughters picture. It was taken in the evening in the backyard of my house. The mood of my daughter is so nice, and the evening sun was a great help in creating this picture.

This is taken inside a building in downtown Copenhagen in March 2007. I have tried to shoot there before, but there were some spotlights in the way, so it was very difficult. I did wish that I had a wider lens than my 24-85mm as that would have made it possible for me to catch all the balconies, but as this is my widest lens, I had to improvise and thus this rather creative and artistic angle.

This is a tunnel underneath the Detroit Airport. It is fun to stare at and think about the vacation that I took it on. Spring 2007.

There is nothin' better than Autumn in the Midwest! ...according to this Ohio-girl anyway! :)

This photo was taken in Kuching, during the Kuching Festival last August 2007. It is of one of the tribes in Sarawak.

I was driving home and the clouds just opened up and this horse was nice enough to be my model.

I like this picture because of the colors--the grungy wall and the bright orange. It was taken in Flint, Michigan, February 2007.

I captured this image of a Green Mamba behind glass at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens. I love the vibrant color and the water droplets from the shower it had just received.

Red Maple leaves are quickly fading from red to green as spring is here to stay. The leaves are in their transitional subtle colors, and are backlit by the sun. In the background is the bark of a very old tree which has seen many springs.

This picture is a reflection of boredom that arises on roadtrips! I took it in the car, and it's meant to be a creative spin on the usual roadtrip pictures! It relates to the category I selected because it is creative - not something you always see.

This photo is taken in Alice Springs, Central Australia from Anzac Hill in town. I moved to Central Australia in May 2006 from Holland, where you just don't see such fabulous lightning. I waited months for a spectacular shot like this!

This picture is special to me because it is my son. This was taken at a local rodeo during the summer of 2007. My son has been riding since he was 4 years old. And still I pray everytime he gets on.

This is the Wellville Mountains in Utah, after the first snow, leaves in full color. It was amazing to see.

We enjoy the reenactment of the battle of Barbourville, a U.S. Civil War skirmish in our town in Kentucky. I took the picture in September 2007. It is an exciting yearly event in our town.

This picture is special to me because it is a beautiful capture of my husband and son. I also like the fact that it represents both the present and the future of our country. It was taken in August of 2007, in our home.

A great morning in San Francisco. This is a picture of the Bay Bridge taken from Coit Tower.

This is my daughter Gina and this is special to me because she seems so peaceful here and looks so much like her dad when he was her age.

I like this photo because it reminds me that the holidays are just around the corner and family's should be gathering to enjoy each other and the sights.

These two young mountain goats were living in the wild in the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area. The interaction between them was a special moment. Taken in summer, 2006.

My son Jacob.. hiding behind a leaf.

This is my friend's dog Boise. We were out taking pictures and he begged to play. I had a great time taking pictures with my best friend on this particular day.

This is a picture of the Triborough Bridge. The picture is special to me because I really like the colors and composition of this subject. It relates to the theme I selected because so many people, like tourists, can see the beauty of the lights and scenery of NYC at night.

I am a big fan of giraffes. This picture was taken at the Okinawa Zoo. I was drawn to his neck, so I figured I'd better capture it before he decided to move.

Alexandr is 80. He lived in the country Krugloye near the city I live in. He is my friend's father. My friend lives in Siberia, 3000 km from here. He visited his father each year. This summer Alexandr's house was burned down. My friend took him to Siberia and now I'm not sure if I will see him again, it's SO far away. I took Alexandr's portrait in August 2007 before they went to far away journey. It's very touching, that Alexandr liked when I took his photos.

I took this picture in Guildford (UK) High Street in Dec 2006. The street was beautifully decorated with Holiday lights, but what I was after were photos with motion blur effects I could achieve with my camera by simply moving it in different directions. After loads of photos, I got several fascinating shots--and this one I would like to share with you :) Happy holidays!

My boy, Maximilian! :)

In the fall and winter there is often a lot of frozen fog in the mornings. I was lucky enough to catch these two moving through it.

I was trying to get in the holiday spirit and decided to photograph some peppermints. I love the bright colors.

"One of the Boys" is about Noah, who is one of Danville High Schools football coaches. Noah comes to every game to watch his dad and the boys play football. On Saturday mornings he gets to be on the field and switch out the footballs. Here he is with his dad and the players watching the game...being one of the boys.
