KODAK MOMENT of the Day

Firehole Cascades, Firehole River, Yellowstone. The river is heated by run-off from the thermal areas. The air temp at the time I took this was 27 degrees yet I could stand in the water and actually get warmer.

This is a picture of our new kitten. I wanted to show the stark contrast between black and white using an image of her.

Taken last winter at Gage Park. This is one of my favorite snow pictures. I love black & white and these tracks seem to go on forever, as if endless...

This Iban lady is wearing the Iban costumes with beautiful bead works on the basket. This was taken at Sarawak Cultural Village during the Miss Fair & Lovely contest.

This is a photo of my good friend Paul who recently let me photograph him at his riding compound in Florida. He is an incredible rider and I think that I captured his spirit in this photo.

I had been trying to capture lightning on my camera for months at home in Columbus, OH and always without success. On a family trip to Rocky Mountain National Park, we stayed in a cottage on a lake; during a major storm one night I went out with my camera to try and capture the lightning and had several successful pictures. This picture relates to nature because it captures one of nature's wonders--lightning.

These are my pants -- what else can I say. I liked the arrangement of the shot, so I thought I would submit it for Picture of the Day and see what happens. Hope you like it.

Shot in a pitch black evening when the northern lights played up with all it's glory, changing the night into a green enchanted fantasy world. The picture was taken a few miles south of Bodø, Norway, February, 2007.

Pee Wee football is so fun to be a part of, I had to bring my camera to games to capture the moments. This interception and run back for a score was a classic. The look is epitomized in the boys eyes.

Can you imagine New York City and its subway simultaneously? Here it is! I'm sure you cannot? add anything else essential to it.

Most people think that this white peacock is an albino, but it's not. This lovely bird is part of a flock at "The Fountain of Youth" in historic St. Augustine, Florida.

Just as my spring and summer flowers of bright pinks, oranges and purples were fading, imagine the surprise when at last, after a true Autumn rain, out pop these joyful bundles that have been hiding since April. They sure were worth the wait!

Photograph of the River Ganges at dawn in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with the First Hoogly Bridge on the backdrop. The abandoned ships on the left belonged to the naval trading companies of earlier times. Presently, they mostly serve as residential shelters to people, like the man on the foreground; he has his makeshift barrel float connected to the shore by means of a rope which he simply has to pull through to transport himself onto the other side.

My son Cedric sitting in the truck moments before his move to California. You can see in his eyes a slight apprehension, and an "I will miss you" look in his eyes. He moved back two months later.

This is a special moment for my sister, Janice and now brother-in-law Dave. This was after their first kiss EVER. They waited until their wedding day to enjoy their first kiss. The moment I captured is just beautiful because you can tell how special their love and relationship is at that moment. This was taken In Auburn, NE on August 11, 2007.

This is an image of my daughter and a friend taken at a local park. I love the contrasting colors of their skin and what it stands for.

I just opened a package of candy canes and two of them were broken, so I decided to turn them into art.

Just a fun and simply shot for Valentine's Day...but one with meaning.

I took this photo during the East Broad Top Railroad 2007 fall spectacular. I took tons of shots from morning til night but this was the one I was hoping to get. Standing a few feet away from the hulking, breathing engine was an awesome experience and I'm glad to have the photo to remind me of the good times on that warm fall day.

The woodland floor in autumn is a fascinating place. I wonder... are there any "little people" living there? Co. Kerry, Ireland. November 2007.

My 2-year old loves to ham-it-up for the camera. Here he wanted to show off his new hat that grandma knitted him.

It was a great honor to see Mt. Rushmore in person while on vacation this summer (July 2007). It is a great vacation spot.

Sometimes you have to push yourself to go get a great photo. I got up early one foggy October morning to drive around Bantam Lake and take quite a few shots. This is the only one I was happy with. I'm glad I did it.

Image captured in December 2007 at a Holiday Dance Recital in Granite Bay, California. My daughter was the choreographer of this particular dance and I couldn't be more proud of her. I admire her ability, enthusiasm and willingness to share and teach these little ones the art of expression. I chose the holiday and events category because of the festive costumes and the various expressions that can't help but make you smile.

This is Buddy aka Beaudreaux..a lab mix. Buddy was a rescue dog that after some tender loving care to restore his physical and psychological health, is currently in training to be a service dog for me. This as typical expression for Buddy when his work day is over, and he is able to "just be a dog".

Taken in The City of Lights. I love the relationship between the poster and the cyclist.

Whilst taking a walk by the sea front, I found this baby seal on the beach between Walton-on-the-Naze and the Hamford Waters in Essex, England, where there are grey and common seals. It's always a treat to visit their habitat.

I was trying to show tension in balance, as if the slightest movement would topple the glasses (they really were stacked that way, not photoshopped). The gelatin helps with that, making it look like gravity has gone crazy.

This is what my backyard and every backyard should look like when it snows. It is what Christmas needs to look like again. It makes you think of "home" when you see this picture.

This was taken early morning at the Canadian Agility Championships. But in a private way, it seemed more moving than the competition.

A quintessential New York scene...

I just love my son in this colorful hat with his big blue eyes and freckles!

There are moments hiking in the mountains that are difficult to capture because of the light and time of day. I was so pleased when everything worked in this photo. I took the picture September of 2007 in the mountains of Idaho. The lake is on the Norton Lakes trail in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. I think of this picture as a "thank you" to nature. What a gift!

This is my nephew Ryan's sax that he played all throughout high school. Capturing a close up of it shows it's age and how much it was played.

I wanted to look at an often photographed subject and try to get a look that's a little bit out of the ordinary, while also getting a sense of the bright lights of the big city. Taken in New York City, March 2008.

Tavon is a talented young man. He is a great student and avid video gamer. He posed for this picture on a really cold day and was a great sport about it.

This is of my friend Charles Espenlaub. He is a driver in the World Challenge series. He's a very talented driver.

My 12 year old daughter Darrien in the middle of taboggoning over Christmas holidays near our home. Children playing in the snow is what the holidays are all about.

My husband and I visited Kauai, Hawaii this past July for our 20th anniversary. We were walking on the beach and when I turned and looked back, I just loved this scene of my footprints following behind me!

I am a 17 year old kid and I got my start in photography when I was handed a 35mm camera and asked to document an event. I enjoy shooting from a photo journalism stand-point and I absolutly love to photograph things some might call trash. This picture is very special to me because it was taken in Rwanda, Africa. The people there hold a special place in my heart. We are in the process of adopting three Rwandan children.

Photo of my niece, McKenna, was taken in September 2007 at Clear Lake, Washington. McKenna has the most beautiful eyes and I love her expression.

I took this photo in a cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee. I like shooting photos in old cemeteries because of the old tombstones.

Having been unwell, I bought a white Calla Lily plant to cheer up my room (and myself). I'm mesmerised by the beauty, solemnity, elegance, shape and form of these graceful flowers. They have inspired my photography to hone in on the detail of the natural world as well as the bigger picture.
