This was taken during a photo session a few months ago. He just wouldn't smile for anything. Cupcakes ... no. His trains ... nope. Peek-a-boo ... nothing. Then I asked his Mom to put on this old vintage dress I'd found in a local thrift shop. She threw the skirt over his head and ... bingo! It's my favorite shot of the year. And it proves that sometimes all a kid wants is, well ... Mom.

This often photographed cypress tree clings tenaciously to a rocky outcropping on 17-Mile Drive near Pebble Beach, California. I was in California on vacation when I took the picture and the day was rainy, cold and misty. I really wanted a souvenir photo so despite its poor quality, I decided to play with it in a digital editing program and was pleased to see a silhouette emerge when I adjusted the levels. I can't imagine being more pleased with a full color version.

Mizen Head Ireland 2008 south of Ireland is gorgeous and photogenic.

I used to work for a steel company that had their own shop. I had many wonderful pictures during my time there.

Liked the patterns of this shot done in November 2007 in Greensboro, NC. Liked how the light and angle of the sun changed it into something completely abstract.

I took this while vatationing in Cape May NJ in 2006 to print to use in our twin daughters room. We purcahsed two ducks and thought it would be fun to show the whole family.

Myanmar, or Burma, is a land of stark contrasts. An oppressive military junta rules over the land with an iron fist so tight that even its? population was denied Western aid after the recent cyclone Nargis. After the catastrophe, 130,000-plus bodies were counted and thousands more were made homeless. Much of the population of this nation scrapes by on meager means as fathers and mothers struggle to support families. Despite these hardships, many find their solace in religion. Buddhism is prevalent here and monks are revered throughout. They are not only a source of calm in a turbulent ocean but are a political force to be reckoned with as witnessed by recent uprisings. These 2007 clashes tested the patience of the ruling military junta. Here, a young novice poses for me in the streets of Mandalay.

There is nothing more precious than little boys at t-ball games.

This is a combination of two images, the girl standing in front of the Victorian house layered with reduced opacity over a shot of just the house from the same perspective. This is one of two ghostly creations I prepared for use on a poster advertising our school's fall play, "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James.

This was taken from an overpass just east of downtown Atlanta in late September. The sun was setting behind the skyline and it was a very colorful scene!

Te color of fall were so well depicted in this leaf of a guava tree which I shot looking upwards. The sunlight made it brighter.

This picture is of my father when i took him on a ride on the train in Thendara, NY. He helped rebuild the train station and cleared the tracks, 16 years earlier, when is first reopened.

This photo was taken at High Point State Park in High Point, NJ. I went hiking here on the Monument Trail last autumn 2008.

Photo Subject: Mountain bikers (cyclists) at the trailhead of the Harmony Trails in Longview, WA. Narrative: I took this during my a group ride with my mountain bike club. We met in the early morning and were waiting in this clearing for the rest of our group to catch up. This so perfectly captures the amazing feeling of excitement and anticipation of riding great Northwest trails with a fantastic group of friends.

I was sitting inside one of the numerous temples on the Bagan plain in Myanmar catching a brief respite from the sun. Two novice monks (one pictured here) approached me and in broken English we began a conversation that would continue throughout the day. Just before sunset, we walked toward the Irrawaddy where they asked a fisherman to take us downriver. The fisherman, with a smile, shoved off and cranked up the engine. As the sun dipped below distant hills and the colors of sunset glowed brilliantly, the boat slid lazily over the tranquil waters.

These two fawns stopped to stare at me in the early morning fog.

I wanted to capture the contrast between the stars, sky and chapel. This was taken at midnight on New Years Eve in Vadheim, Norway.

While traveling in the village near Pushkar in Rajasthan, India, I saw three boys standing on a small hill and two bulls as well as a bullockat was at lower place. I captured this frame against light to get silhouette. It was shot in March 2008.

Shot this bowl of blueberries against polka-dotted placemats to emphasize the shapes and colors.

These 2 chihuahua sisters each weigh only 2 pounds and are the cutest puppies I have seen.

It's dreamy and so quiet,every time I see this picture I think of a fairy-tale

Well it took quite a while and much friendly persuasion to get this group of meerkats to pose for a family snapshot. Afterward they all agreed it was worth the time and effort!(smiling).

I just love sweet corn. I took this at home before I cooked it because it looked so good.

I discovered these wild turkeys showing off for the ladies while visiting a local nature preserve.

I love the texture of the clock in black and white. I took this picture when walking around 42nd street. The building is nice but I think the clock is an important feature.

I was hanging around with my camera when I saw these shoes... I started to think about me and my girlfriend; and about dreams of having a child.

A homage to a beverage that has gotten me through many a day.

This is my grandson as he was getting ready to graduate from high school, and enlisted in the Coast Guard. This is just a reminder of of how fast he has grown-up.

It was our one year wedding anniversary and we spent it in Europe. This picture is taken in Brugge, Belgium in November 2008. Brugge met us with this magical foggy scenery.

On a cold gray day (25 below 0) our creator left this beauty on my kitchen window. Every masterpiece needs an artist. This creation shows me proof of a heavenly artist.

There's an incredibly sad story associated with this little car. Despite that, it remains a jolly symbol of daydreams of the wind in your hair and a smile on your face.

The morning after this snowfall, the air was very still and very cold, the snow stayed on the branches as the sky cleared to bright blue. These branches are 20 feet up covered in snow, this lasted for a short while the wind blew all of the snow off the trees in about an hour. I like the abstract feel of this.

Photo Story: Last Christmas was the first Christmas my son was able to really help decorate the tree. i snapped this Kodak Moment as he was beginning to hang an ornament! One more reason to love the Christmas season.

This is a close-up of the Pakistan Monument situated on top of a hill in Islamabad. The monument is constructed with stone/marble designs.

This was taken at the Pittsburgh Zoo in the tunnel that goes under the polar bear pool. It was the first time I'd ever seen one swimming! Taken May 2009.
