KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I saw the people in traditional colorful dress with a happy mood in golden hour in the morning. I liked the background with camels. It was captured in a village near Pushkar, Rajasthan, India.

I love to take photos in fog or mist. I applied the Orton Technique and added a sepia tone to this shot.

I took this photo because I was captivated by the elements of design. I love the shapes and play of light and shadow here.

I took this picture in Tunisia-Sahara, near the old market town of Tataouine.

A candid shot of a friend of my daughter. I really like her hidden smile, which gives a mystical expression.

Winter in Northern Michigan can be harsh with lots of snow, cold and wind. In the woodland of our farm the trees cast undulating shadows across the creek bed. The sun make the fresh snow sparkle like diamonds.

This snapshot was taken at a local festival in Okinawa, Japan. After a local cultural group had performed, they moved down the street. All of a sudden this little tyke, who had been performing with them, notices that they've moved on without him. He comes running down the street shouting "wait" at the top of his lungs to the applause and laughter of the crowd.

This dilapidated barn photo was shot on a farm in near Dassel, MN in June 2009 during my lunch break at work. I feel the title is very fitting because the barn reminded me of a giant animal on its last legs just getting ready to lay down for the final time. The barn had a good life but the skeleton is all that remains.

This photo was taken in Orissa, a state of India. The man is from the Bonda Tribe. Bondas are the oldest tribal people of Malkangiri District.

This is a foot bridge at the golf course in Ft. Dix New Jersey, taken in January 2009. I selected this photo because it represents crossing into the unknown. You can almost see what's on the other side, but not everything.
I selected the artistic/creative theme because of the perspective.

Indian women decorate their hands with Menhdi(Hena) during any festival or ceremony. This was taken in July 2009 during the rainy season (Sawan), and the ladies have decorated their hands to welcome rains.
I like design, patterns and colors of such Henna painting on the hands. After the Sawan Mahotsav was over, I requested my wife and her friends to pose for this shot. I am thankful to them for cooperating with me for this creative and artistic shot.

I took a photo of snow covered trees and transformed it into a colorful fantasy.

My little flapper girl on her 2nd birthday.

This raccoon came out of the woods while I was trying to photograph birds.

This picture was taken at Derjeeling, a beautiful hill station surrounded by snow caped Himalayan ranges. I liked the boys posture and his distinct expression. I have chosen this category because the picture makes me nostalgic about my vacation, the majestic mountain and it's people.

I was having a cup of Turkish coffee on my balcony while taking a look at the newspapers, when I recognized that it was a nice scene for taking a picture, and to record the morning mood at five past seven.

This was an idea that I saw from another photographer and thought I would try out myself. I like how it turned out and I also like it because he is my son!

Caused by years of usage, the color change on the surface of this (probably) copper door is amazing. The image was taken at the Cathedral of Osnabrueck, Germany.

I felt very fortunate to have caught a quick glimpse of a real Maiko or young Geisha in training, and her "younger sister" carrying her things for her. The "younger sister" (as they're referred to in Japan) study from one chosen Maiko, suitably titled, "older sister", until they too are ready to become a Maiko.

Chattanooga got snow for the first time in years on Dec 5, 2009. It really put a festive spirit to the area!

This is taken of my niece when we were on a summertime picnic. The girls were all doing funny things with their sandwiches, and it made a cute picture!

This past year I took an art class and we worked with oils. I took this picture because my art teacher only let us use the primary colors. "Brown is cheating" she would say, "you won't learn to mix colors if you cheat!" =)

Elephants at Aanakotta, Guruvayur. This one was getting its daily morning bath. The elephant was 10 years old and seemed to be enjoying this part of the day. Kerala is my favorite destination in India. The way this state in India is created makes me think of a green life. I love elephants and seeing them cared for well made me feel even happier.

A typical day in San Francisco isn't a typical day for most places. For some reason I always find the site of the trolleys a good stress reliever!

Photo Story: The sun was setting and our shadows were cast against the brick wall. We started making shadow puppet and I started taking pictures of them. All of a sudden, he reached over and kissed the side of my head, and I happened to be snapping a shot. This photo was taken at Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ).

A photo of a Dutch windmill in the January snow. Taken in a little place called Diever, in the provence Drenthe, Holland.

My friend's son and his football buddies were hamming it up for the camera at a football scrimmage. I love how each and every one of them look so entirely different from the others.

The local museum in Grand Rapids, MI stayed open after hours one night. The whale skeleton has been a "huge" part of the museum since I was a child.

This is a photo of my son who selflessly gives of his time to pose for me when ever I ask. I am blessed to have such a wonderful son. This is one of my favorite pictures of him. Photo taken in my garage using only natural light.

This picture was taken in Katmai National Park, during a bear viewing trip to Alaska in 2008. There were plenty of photo ops watching the brown bear run back and forth eating salmon.

This is so special because it shows my daughters excitement and a sparkle in her eyes. I like that his "gift" is the wildflowers. It was taken just at dusk in July 2009.

Just playing in the snow.

Horses being mustered through a creek at Glenworth Valley, Central Coast, NSW, Australia. Captured with Nikon D3X DSLR and Nikkor 70 - 200mm VR lens. I have converted the original RAW image with NIK Silver Efex. I've chosen Nature rather than Animals/Pets, as my category, because the image, to me, is not just about the horses themselves, it's about the raw nature of their actions/reactions, their interaction with drovers (musterers) and the environment, tones and textures in a cacophony of sound and energy.

To me, this is a perfect display of why they do what they do... This firefighter is with his brand new baby girl. He's velvet over steel.

This picture is of my son bending strings on his SG guitar, was taken in our living room. It was shot on Kodak TMax and enhanced a little with Photoshop.

This is the Wollman Rink in Central Park, NY. It's nice to see the skaters enjoying winter activities against the backdrop of the city buildings.

The play of the lighting on the tree combined with the full moon are very compelling.

I captured this action during a camel race competition at the Desert Festival, Jasalmer, Rajastrhan, India on 9.2.09.

My son was quietly sitting at the table drawing with his new markers and I asked him what he was drawing. "Just an eagle," he said. It was a moment that just had to be captured.

This is the closest representation of what I actually saw! This is a color photograph, but the January fog zapped most of the color from what the eye sees. Taken in January, 2009, Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, LA. For me, this is nature at it's most mysterious and beautiful state.
