KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I just received my new camera as a Mother's Day gift, and this was one of the first photos I took. It was taken without a tripod...guess I must have been 'super steady' that day.
The dandelions had not been rained on yet and were quite full--and the morning dew had them looking like diamonds in a jewelry shop window.
When I blew this image up, I thought it had an outer space look to it.

The simplicity of daisies lure me. They were loved by my grandmother and have always been special to me, and planted in any garden I've ever had. This particular group came into bloom on the day my daughter assembled her friends by my garden to take photos before going to their Junior Semi-Formal.

This picture was taken in the Summer of 2009. These two brave young souls are enjoying the beauty of Grand Canyon, South Rim.

These ferns are abundant in the Cathedral Grove, which is a wonderful forest on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

I was at my niece's ballet recital. This is the youngest class of the ballet company. I love how they are all doing something different. Just too cute.

I found these stones along the edge of a field in Iowa. I love the fact that the farmer took the time to create something of beauty from what would normally be thrown aside.

This photograph was taken in northern Tanzania while I was studying abroad during my junior year of college. For two weeks, each student from our group lived with a Maasai family in the plains just south of Arusha, Tanzania. Our group was present during a day-long wedding ceremony that brought together Maasai families from all over the region. Upon arriving at the ceremony and discovering another student's digital camera, my host brother became the de facto photographer.

While vacationing on Hilton Head Island I came across this man fishing in the ocean.

Who can resist the merry go round. My husband & I went last night because we hadn't been in a long time.

Our Country's Flag never fails to stir me. While vacationing in Cincinnati in June 2009, I went to the Union Terminal to shoot this architectural gem. The huge Flag was an unexpected treasure.

This is very special to me because it was taken on our last visit to Pensacola Beach, FL before we moved from there in Feb 2010. Now I hear that the beach is getting oil from the Gulf disaster and that it may get worse. I hope that the sea life don't despair, and the beach can remain as beautiful as the day my son found this delicate starfish.

Brood parasitism. I was holding my camera above my head and didn't notice the size difference until I reviewed all of my photos. Taken 6-4-10 in Kingsville, OH.

Leilani loves her Ed Hardy shoes, and I love the way Robert captured them.

The corn is growing very fast these days, almost reaching the sky.

This picture was taken after the birth of our first child, by our student nurse, John Paul. My husband Joe was admiring our new son, Drew.

My first wedding photography! The picture was taken on May 15th on the beach in Noordwijk, Netherlands. My eye was drawn to their feet. The bride changed shoes, so her shoes wouldn't get dirty!
The picture is different than the 'standard' wedding picture, that's why it relates to the theme: creative!

This is called boron. After putting sindur on the goddesses, married women smear each other with it. The tradition comes from the Bengali custom where married women would apply sindur on each other when one of them was leaving home.

I loved how demure the bride looked in this shot. She was a real little sweetheart and a pleasure to work with.

My daughter Lena has just got married. She is happy. And me, too.

The Milton-bound train on platform 27, Union Station in Toronto.
This train is part of my daily commute, but the sight still captures my attention each and every day.
Taken on Feb 5, 2010 with a Canon Rebel XS, ISO 100, F22, a 30 sec exposure. The colour effect was achieved by changing the colour levels using GIMP (www.gimp.org).

The early summer is always my favorite because we get to go out and pick all the strawberries that have ripened in our garden. My younger brother and I were out picking and I saw a photo opportunity and seized it - he was kind enough to be my hand model for this photo. Taken June 14, 2010.

I captured this photo of a bald eagle in mid May 2009. I think the image of the American flag in the background completes this photo nicely.

Macy Fireworks On The Hudson ~ July 4, 2009

You can't help but feel the emotions when one see's the fireworks and the reason behind the celebration of July 4th! Thank you to all the men and women in the armed forces to make this possible and allow us to be free!

This was the first time I went to the Del Mar Fair and also my first time on the Ferris wheel. It was incredibly tall - and I'm afraid of heights - so I just had to remember it!

Nature's depiction of mini-sun in the shape of a Gazania flower. The spring has Sprung here in Islamabad!

The colours and the detail of this picture bring back fond memories of a great Safari at the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. The Masai tribes have been exposed to a tremendous amount of ?westernization? but have managed to retain many of their traditions. They provide a great example of the importance of maintaining your cultural and religious values in a world that is rapidly changing.

Colorado has beautiful fences that photographers can use as leading lines. This one is in the San Juan Mountains, near Ridgway, Colorado. I like the zig-zag effect of the fence leading to Mount Sneffels.

While on a tour of Jantar Mantar (sun observatory) in Delhi,India, I noticed these stairs beautifully framed through a window. The centuries old Rajput architecture did not allow me to move on till I clicked this picture.

Lighthouses have special appeal, blending nature with the hand of man. Bass Harbor Lighthouse is in Acadia National Park, Maine. I took this moody photo after the sun had set.

This was taken by my nephew at Angkor Wat in Cambodia in 2006, where he captured this monk entering the temple. His family (my sister) were living in Chengdu, China for a year. They went on vacation to southeast Asia, and he was always borrowing his Dad's camera. He was 11 at the time.

Two of my children were picking tomatoes in their grandparents' garden in the most beautiful, golden light.

These elevators use to dot the landscape in western Canada and every small town had one. Now with the advent of super terminals, they are slowly being closed and torn down. This shot was taken in Sedley Saskatchewan Canada. Anyone who has driven through western Canada has seen these, and they have some meaning to people who live near them. They are certainly worth documenting through photography.

This is my three year old son Nik. I took it when my boys were playing in the sprinkler on a hot summer day. He came up to me and I just happened to snap the picture. It is one of my favorites!

The Erie Basin Marina and Erie Canal Harbor, which are located in Buffalo, NY are great places to spend a beautiful summer evening.

The picture was taken in front of a painted wall on Kadikoy, the Asian part of Istanbul. I was waiting for someone suitable to pass by to fit him/her in this picture. I was happy when this courier came out ...

During breeding season, the American avocets were having territorial disagreements. They were on the Great Salt Lake, in Antelope Island State Park in Utah. I thought the reflections and beautiful water of the lake were such a work of art in nature.

I was cleaning my dad's bike and decided it would be a great photo opportunity.

This photo shows childhood as it should be - with the wonder of new discoveries. The photo was taken in February, in the Sonoma Valley, California. I love Fevruary when the beauty of the mustard bursts into bloom during the month.

This is Rocky, taken in our family's favorite national park, Yosemite. This picture at Yosemite Valley captures a special family memory.

This photo was taken in the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Kyoto, Japan at the Jidai Matsuri, one of Kyoto's large festivals. These ladies take part in the ceremonial parade and dress in period costume, together with their traditional white make-up. It was an incredible sight to witness the parade!

I was looking around my kitchen for food to take pictures of, when I spotted my vine tomatoes in the fridge.
The bright red colour really attracted me. So, I splashed one with some water, grabbed my point and shoot and placed the tomato by a window.

Just goes to prove you don't have to use special equipment to take amazing photographs.

I saw a photographer standing exactly in the centre and trying to capture the reflections of this White Beauty. I liked the symmetry of the frame. I captured this in 2009 during my trip to Taj Mahal, Agra, India.

This is the beautiful Cinneraria plant, which I found at a local greenhouse. I couldn't remember the name and wanted to use it as the Title, so had to call the greenhouse back. I love it!

Taken at Six Flags Over St. Louis, this was the culmination of a great day for all of us.

Father and Son walk right towards us while on an African Safari. It is amazing just how close you can get to these giants.
