KODAK MOMENT of the Day

The circles of light are from the lights on the Christmas Tree. I feel that the glowing of the candle against the lights are very symbolic of the holiday season.

This picture is very special to me. It is a picture taken of my youngest son Declan who is two years old. He enjoys the outdoors and taking walks. Each family outing is like a new adventure to him filled with fun, laughter, and the unexpected. I took this photo in Longmont, Colorado on the Lefthand Creek Trail a couple of days ago. The theme of the photo is family. My family is most important to me. In this picture my son is walking on a trail and the sunlight is shinning down on him. He is the focal point and what is most important to me in the picture.

The one liners are endless in the fleeting moment with our cat Boone and the buck that was in the yard. "Excuse me, I believe you are in my spot." or "Tag, you're it!", etc., etc.

As I hang ornaments on my tree, I think of where I was when I purchased that ornament. The Eiffel Tower holds a special place in my heart, My daughter and I took a trip to Paris. Always brings a smile to me with all the wonderful memories.

Every year our city of Dunedin, Florida hosts a lighted boat parade that kicks off the Christmas season. Often the weather is gorgeous and the event is something my family and I have enjoyed for many years. This picture was taken at the Marker 1 Marina in Dunedin where the contest boat entrants were queued to begin their parade to the Dunedin Municipal Marina downtown where hundreds of spectators are waiting for them. Santa arrives in the final boat to flip the switch, lighting the local Christmas tree. Christmas in our city of delightful Dunedin is truly fabulous!

This captures the fine contrasts between seasons, which I love! Here, in Stockholm, the open water tuns so ice and mist is rising from the water. This is captured about 200 meters from where I live. I think it we should appreciate the season changes while we can, if not for our children to enjoy in the future!

Watching for intruders.

While visiting New York City in April 2012, we came across the Chelsea Market between 9th and 11th Avenues in the former Nabisco complex. The developers retained the factory infrastructure, which gives it character, and the little shops are wonderful--bakery, cheese, gift cards, specialty foods, wines, trendy clothes. We LOVED it!

This was our first and only visit to Paris on vacation in October 2008. This photo sums up our special feelings for the cafe/art scene in Montmartre,and also seeing the Sacre Coeur in the background A very special time for my husband and myself.

Through pinched fingers, a stream of colored chalk powder flows uninhibitedly to leave a wonderful mosaic of flowers, leaves, birds and abstract designs. In South India, Muggulu (as its known in Andhra Pradesh in India) is a treasured art form passed on among women from generation to generation. This festive motif deftly drawn on the street at Hyderabad seemed to me the perfect way to herald 2013.

A cow is believed to be very sacred by Hindus around the world, specially Indians. A cow is really very useful in all forms. We get Milk from Cow, Some eat its meat, Even its cowdung is useful(It works as fire wood & also some people use it to decorate their house entrance followed by rangoli) Keeping all this aside, people decorate the cow & take it house to house to make their living.

My friend is a very accomplished print artist, and I like watching him practice his trade.

This picture special to because it was taken at my Mom's house at Thanksgiving last year. Sunlight through the pines in late afternoon will always remind me of the time I spent with her.

Taken from Hotel 71 up the Chicago River in March 2009. The picture was taken from around the 12 floor through a small crack in the window, the windows would not open fully. The last Transformers movie had a major scene filmed in front and in the area of the hotel.

The picture is taken in Ganga Sagar in January 2012. The pilgrim come to south of Bengal to take holi dip in the Ganges.

I took it during the recent snowfall in England. The snow looked particularly thick so I decided to go out and capture a photo of myself in the snow.

san francisco's golden gate bridge celebrates its 75th anniversary on may 27th, 2012. someone once wrote in the local newspaper, nearly a decade ago, about how the bridge "has become one of a handful of American symbols that is instantly recognizable around the world. For those of us lucky enough to live within sight of it, who observe it in every season, weather and light, it remains endlessly compelling."

It was just after a first snow for the season just our normal walk with our two dogs. It was amazing to see how something so ordinary became so magical with snow.

This picture is special to me because I have been in love with Irish music and culture for a very long time. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to see Ireland for myself. I even gave my daughter her middle name after County Clare where some of my favorite music comes from. In July 2012 I finally made the trip. A friend of mine (who is from New Quay, County Clare) was getting married and invited my wife and I to come over and attend the wedding. At first I thought "wouldn't that be nice" but the more I thought about it the more I felt like it was in the realm of possibility. We made the trip with our 3 month old daughter and it was one of the best experiences of my life. This photograph shows a moment from the wedding reception when the bride was playing tunes with her Dad (right) and other friends. I am forever grateful for having had the chance to witness such a marvelous cultural event and to have seen Ireland with my own eyes.

When I stand and look out to sea my mind opens up and I think abount nothing and everything all at the same time. I took this shot of my son as I could tell he was doing the exact same thing. We are dreamers..

I am in the Army and stationed at FT Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. I just recently purchased a NIKON D5100 and this was my first time taking pics of the Northern Lights and took about a 100 or so photos in -35 degree temps adjusting settings to get everything correct. The exposure was set at 20 seconds and just shortly after snapping the pic a car came around the corner and I thought it was going to ruin the pic. When I got home I was extremely happy with the way it turned out. I captured a lot of good pics this night and can't wait for the Aurora to come out again so I can experiment some more. The picture was taken on 1 December 2012 at about 11:55 pm just north of North Pole, AK. I was not sure if I should choose Nature or Artistic/Creative. I went with Nature because the shows that the Northern Lights put on are just amazing, and I am so happy that my wife and I get to experience all the nature that Alaska has to offer.

After walking the streets of Amarillo, Texas my Californian friend and I stumbled into an antique-hip store. Everything was either made by an artist of some sort or junk someone had bought. Well tucked away in a corner with missing pieces, truly damaged and duct taped and scotched taped together barely holding together it's own art form we found a tuba. It was priced $10 and for a musician, much like himself, that's a great deal for a mantel piece and a resemblance of his journey to Texas... Taken November 19,2011

Burrowing Owls are one of the smallest owls in North America. With its alert stance, piercing yellow-eyed stare it is easily distinguishable. This owl was seen in South Florida keenly alert with its intent eyes.

Nothing beats a cold clear evening after a snow storm. The sun's low light across the capped trees is transforming.

I love this photo cause though, there is a storm in the clouds,the individual looks so at peace flying his kite. I took this photograph while visiting Cayucos,Ca about 2 years ago.

Sasha is a disabled Persian cat that I brought back with me from Bulgaria in 2010. Despite the many difficulties he had to overcome, he remained a splendid and dignified feline, as this photo can attest.

I saw these cute valentine cupcakes and had to buy them to photograph..loved the bright colors and they made me smile.
