A few days before I left my hometown of Vancouver (BC, Canada), I spent a day at English Bay in Stanley Park. From afar, I saw a father and daughter looking for seashells.They took their time going over each shell and carefully added each one to their collection. Eventhough I do not know what they said to each other, the love the father had for his daughter was undeniably evident.

I LOVE THE NATURE IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY. TAKEN IN BONNY RIVER N.B. EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT , I T REMINDS ME TO SLOW DOWN AND "REFLECT" ON LIFE.

This picture was taken in Wildwood NJ.. my husband learned the hard way not to feed the seagulls!

Relaxing at the local diner after the crowd has gone for the day.

I shot this photo the summer I turned 16, when my friend and I were talking about all the places we wanted to see and the things we wanted to do. This photo represents the dreams and feelings of wonderment I had (and still have now, three years later!).

I just was playing around with light and thought this came out rather well. I also love the color blue that is here and I thougth it was a pretty creative day I was having so I thought it would be appropriate to enter this in the Artistic/Creative category for this contest.

This shot was a surprise shot captured on my way out of my apartment. I saw these sparrows all crowding for a splash in a puddle of water on the road, two of them appeared to be having a turf fight.

Long summer days on vacation lend themselves to little boys catching little creatures.

This was a sunrise photo I took in the summer of 2011. I just loved the colors and the 2 subjects were surf fishing in the early light. It looked as though the older gentleman was instructing the teen on how to surf fish. Taken in North Wildwood, NJ while on vacation in 2011.

She really wanted her best friend to come out and play with her.

My 6 year old daughter and her best pal were swinging as high as they possibly could go...laughing the whole time. I sat down in order to capture the height at the top of their swing.

Taken over downtown Chicago as as storm rolled in. Framed between two great buildings as the lightning intensified.

This is a shot of a vintage carousel horse at the Glen Echo Park in Maryland. The US Park Service restored this beautiful 1921 Dentzel carousel after they took over the closed amusement park back in the sixties. It is still running and open to the public during the summer season each year.

The many soaring gulls on the beach at Hilton Head, SC symbolized the carefree days we spent there on our summer vacation. The gulls became very friendly when our sons began eating popcorn on the beach. Our family beach vacation was a magical time pursuing simple pleasures together. This photo will always recalls those special, sun-soaked days.

June is typically recital month in our area. I captured this image of this young performer with a single strobe. I think the 'rimming' effect of the light accentuates her form and her positioning quite nicely. Dance is a beautiful expression but when combined with light, the result is divine!

I was experimenting with water, bubbles, oil, light and color. I like the way it came out. Surreal.

Bella was loving the simplicity of jumping in the puddles after the rain. Sometimes we forget how simple happiness can be :)

This was taken a few weeks before new year on Gulf Air , i had recently moved to Bahrain after living in Dubai for 12 years and this shot was during my flight back to Dubai after staying in Bahrain for only 3 weeks because i missed all my friends.

My dog Lily loves summer in the Rocky Mountains. Here she is relaxing in a field of wild flowers during one of our hikes. Not only is she sweet to look at but the scenery is nice as well.

This photo was taken at the Wings over Houston Air Show in October of 2010.

I took this picture in Dubois, Wyoming at the CM Ranch in July 2013. I love the engergy in the image with the horses and water.

This picture was taken from damodor river side.I saw some boys are enjoy and playing their childhood life in the autumn season then I captured it thought my camera.This was a wonderful moment.

Ponytail Falls is on one of the nicer trails along the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon as the hike starts off at Horsetail Falls, which is also quite attractive. You then traverse a hill and through varying forest before hearing and then seeing Ponytail Falls. The cave behind the falls makes for an interesting though slippery place to explore. The top of the cave is the remnants of an ancient lava flow and the bottom softer soil which was eroded by the falls. Including my son is in the foreground and my wife exploring very close to the falls allowed me to give some scale to this photo.

Central Coast is my 5year old boy favorite drive. is only 30Min from our house, but always make us feel happy and relax!!

Our three cats have taken over the treehouse in the backyard and made it their own lookout.

This is Lucy and she is such a poser. I was dog sitting her and she let me do whatever I wanted to her for taking photos....there were many props but this turned out to be my favorite...

I admire the patterns in nature and found this succulent plant to be an exeptional specimen with it's bold red tips and swirly appearance. Taken at Harmony Hill Gardens and submitted as a sign of spring

It?s hard to resist going through the tunnel though Battle Rock, in Port Orford, Oregon... when the tide is low. Especially during the early morning, when the interior of the tunnel is better illuminated. November 14, 2011.

This picture is special to me because it becomes an expression of what is most important in life - freedom and peace of mind. I took this picture two months ago in the Dominican Republic. It is a little piece of paradise. A vacation indeed!

On a family vacation/cruise earlier this month, our grandson, Daniel, treated himself to a refreshing splash in the "H2O Zone" aboard the "Freedom of the Seas". He would have us believe that the photo portrays his natural halo... NOT!

Thank you for Kodak Portra 400 this time. The best color negative film ever created.

This picture was taken in Madison, WI. Its the underside of Hwy 30. I like the abundance of lines in the picture. The path to this spot was very normal rail and road stuff. Then all of a sudden this little oasis of a place popped into my vision. Hence the shangri la name.

Took several tries to get the grasshopper to stay. Several times he jumped on my eyelid.

Took this photo about 6am in Bosque del Apache in November. It sounded like a freight train going by.

The holy city of Varanasi also know as "The City of Temples". There are several religious rituals that are seen throughout the day. This shot was made during the early Morning Aarti (Prayer) in Dasaswamedh Ghat in Varanasi (Banaras). The silhouette and the changing colors of the morning sky made me feel at peace.

In the Patriarch Grove in the White Mounatins California where the ancient bristlecone pines are found. It is so dark that the milky way is visible

Akasha, a three-year-old Bengal tiger, is the world's only female underwater diving tiger and resides at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Calif. I was asked to take some new photos of the tigers swimming underwater and by chance the lighting and conditions were just right. I took this image in May, 2011 and it has proven to be quite popular. My favorite subject matter to shoot are tigers.

I liked the rust and texture that remained on this unrestored 1936 Ford. I love listening to the stories people tell about when they owned a particular car from their teenage years.

I was on a pier, on lake Michigan in Chicago, and I was looking out unto the city. It's a beautiful place to stand and look out on, well there it was, the perfect picture!

The Hmong are a hilltribe living in northern Thailand in the area of Chiang Mai. The Kids were at the entrance to a temple to entertain tourists.
