KODAK MOMENT of the Day

I love old cameras ... this is the lens on my GraphicView 4x5. Taken in March 2014. The look and feel just matches the photos I take with that camera.

I love this photo because this Jack Russell Terrier looked just like my Schnurbart. This dog?s owner decided to hit the surfs and this dog hardly took his eyes off him, even as I plunged my knees into the sand and crouched to get a better frame (with a 35mm lens, I was really close). I am so impressed with his good behaviour, but more so with his unwaivering sense of loyalty to his master. Byron Bay, Australia, Dec 2013. Taken with Contax T3 and Kodak Ektar 100 film.

In Luxembourg Park, Paris, a very popular family event is toy- boat sailing. There are vendors who rent out the boats and the children love to sail them around the fountains with parents in-tow or vs. It is joyous to watch.

I photographed this colorful firework display at last year's 4th of July Fireworks Celebration at Stanley Quarter Park, in New Britain, CT. Each year I enjoy photographing the show and each year the fireworks are always colorful and dramatic.

I took this image at the Perth Zoo, This is Special to me because he was alone, alone in a glass tank left to watch the world and observing people, I myself am an observer and I feel alone quite often so this related to myself in a way and I know many others

My wife and I were in Canada and I love reflection images but I wanted to be part of this reflection so I through a pebble into the water as if I was painting it in. My wife and I were on holiday when the image was taken and we were relaxed after working so hard during the year.

I took this picture while lieing on the beach at Weymouth Tasmania. I just wanted to share it with everyone.

My grandbaby fell in the grass at the park. He looked so precious in the sunlight smiling at us as we were all fussing over him falling.

I photographed this oystercatcher chick at sunset on Nickerson Beach, Long Beach Island, New York.

Getting into the outdoors is always a great period for reflection - although the seclusion provided by truly entering the wilderness makes the sense of reflection just a little deeper. A recent trip to the Adirondacks provided some much needed thought as I found myself at an intersection in life.

I was driving on the road in Kansas and happened to see a large flock of birds in a field. I ran out into the field and captured them (hundreds of them).

Spring in Florida is so spectacular! The brilliant colors of this butterfly on it's flower was just too good to miss after a long winter.

A massive lightning strike during a thunderstorm near Moscow, Idaho July 17, 2013. I grew up in southern Arizona and have a lifelong fascination with bad weather, especially thunderstorms and lightning.

This was shot on the Potomac River south of Woodbridge, VA. last winter. I liked the way the boat house seemed to float above the river in the fog.

Dragonflies are beautiful. The story behind dragonflies is particularly inspiring. It was taken at a duck pond in Redlands, CA, in July of 2011. It relates to the theme because the dragonfly is in it's natural habitat.

Life is perfect when you see the beautiful sea star of the sea. I took the photo while we were on holiday at Hartenbos in SA the 30th of April 2014. The sea and the water is part of the nature and the star just put beauty to the picture

Another day at the beach for "Californian Friends" after a volleyball game the sunset was stunning.

While on the island of Nantucket recently, I went down to the Brant Point Lighthouse. As the sun was setting, everything took on that beautiful 'glow', including the sea shells on the beach.

A White Ibis along the shoreline of Lake Jesup flips a crayfish prey of in its beak. The diet of White Ibis is highly variable depending on the region but in Florida this is its preferred food.

It's difficult being a winter person in a summer world. Taken at the Pasadena City Hall in California. I loved the color contrast of the ski equipment with the Southern California architecture.

This is my mums cat Claudius, he is a beautiful creature who loves to have his picture taken. He lay on the bench next to me whilst I ate my lunch and I had to take a few pictures.

After 10 adrenalin pumped days of biting cold in the snow covered climes of Ladakh, I was beginning to feel the pangs of separation on my flight back. As I looked out of the window, I saw the stark change in geography between the white snow capped mountains and the brown snow bereft ones. I was leaving snow behind! I have taken this photograph from on board Leh-Delhi flight on May 2013.

This photo of a very frightened, but curious stray kitten was taken on October 5th 2011 in Gilbert, Arizona. He enjoyed hiding inside my chiminea and lived on my back patio for about one week before gaining his trust in me. Now Artemas is a part of our family living with his five furry sisters and one furry brother, all adopted and living the good life indoors!

These Students participate in weekly beach cleanups because they care about their environment. This was taken at Hermosa Beach in July 2012. The shot depicts some kids (obviously, the little legs dangling) just hangin' out.. they had fun doing the cleanup and they are good friends at school as well. Great students, great bunch of Junior Ocean Advocates .. Just plain great children!

The voracious appetite of a caterpillar works its way across an elephant ear plant trying to sustain its need for nourishment.

Manly Beach is one of the most idyllic locations in Australia, overflowing with crowds of surfers, families and tourists in summer. Winter is a different story though. Down to the beach before sunrise for this shot, it was just me and the morning joggers. It was even too cold for the surfers. Totally worth it though, to be able to witness an amazing sunrise at one of the most amazing places in the country. This is what makes those cold, early mornings worth it.
