KODAK MOMENT of the Day

1. Because I was using my favourite film: Kodak Tri-X 35mm, shooting from the hip. And it's a cool picture. 2. I took it today, November 9th 2013, around 14:30. 3. It reminds me of the 1960s New York. Has a timeless sort of feel to it. Definitely cannot hear the crazy perfume shop man wailing his drivel just to the left of the frame!

This past December, Toronto, ON, Canada had the worst ice storm I have seen in the over 50 years I've lived here. The storm caused massive damage to the city's tree canopy, but it also brought some real beauty--and that beauty is what I tried to capture in this photo.

Almost all people photograph this arch at sunset. I chose to hike up to it in the middle of the winter, before sunrise, and photograph it with the sun coming through the arch. This is one of Utah's icons.

This was taken in Cleveland Metro parks...and is a once in a lifetime shot, I also used it for my Christmas and had PEACE ON EARTH written at the bottem

Picture taken January, 2014. I like the look of concentration on the little boy's face. We had seen deer that day and I asked him if there were any more too see.

A beautiful dove on a branch outside our kitchen window. It was just beginning to drizzle. He stayed for the shower that followed undeterred.

When I took this picture I was in a tire and rim shop, at Hunts Point, Bronx, NY,with a friend who's obsessed with his car. I was in awe of all the different, sexy, custom rims there were in their garage. It was beautiful!! What caught my eye were all the repeating circles and the rays of sun gleaming off the chrome.

I went to Paris with my school a few years ago. It reminds me to always follow my dream- of being a photographer in Paris. When I see it, I remember that I'm capable of anything if I put my mind to it.

Our daughter's college graduation gift, Coco Channel, resting on the sofa. Taken with an Iphone 4 about a year ago. Just a special shot of a special pet!

I had a photography teacher, who encouraged me to "not look through the viewfinder" and just make photographs. This was one of the images I made in 1976 with a Rollei 35mm miniature camera and Tri-X film. I saw the man walking with this hat, and saw the shadow of a building on the wall behind him, that also resembled a shadow of a hat.

I was out for light trails shot and I love this picture most. This was taken 23.02.2013.

Had a chance to shoot Day Lilies in my studio and went for it.

This picture is special to me because, though we often take it for granted, light is the most integral part of nearly all life. When I shot this photo in my photography class, my goal was to show how vital and how incredible light is. Because no matter how great a photographer is, from the film, to the enlarger, to the scanner, it was light that allowed this piece of art to form.

This is my chug, Wilber waiting for me to throw the ball that he wont bring back! Just play keep away.

While visiting Maine this winter, our hotel let their chairs remain outside. The scene just seemed to strike a vision of these chairs soaking up the winter sun. It was inviting.

I was photographing Milkweed and had a surprise in the image.

The Tree Swallows had just migrated back north and were very active and in large numbers on this gray day. I noticed that this swallow kept returning to this location and waited for it to come back. When it did I composed and took a few photos.

You have blackness surrounding the brightness of the leaf and the rain drops, thus illustrating that there is always light in the darkness. I took it around 5:30 at night, just as the sun was starting to set. At one of my friends house. It had just rained and the drops are what caught my eye. It shows the simplicity of nature, that even the smallest things can be incredible.

I love the color pop of the peeling paint on the windmill.I also like its depth. Kiowa Colorado. 2010. Its definitely a nature pic.

This is of one of my horses. I have always had tunnel vision when it comes to horses they are one of the most important things in my life.

This picture is special because it has my eight year old daughter all dressed as a delicate ballerina but still wearing her cowboy boots in her GREAT grandparents pasture. The fence she is holding onto was built by her great grandfather 50+ years prior to her even being born. She never met her Great Grandfather but she is holding onto a piece of him.

I visited the Lido Beach Marine Nature Study Area as it's monarch migration time here in NYC. After a short walk I found plenty of them in the vicinity of a few butterfly bushes. In the 45 minutes I spent there I managed to tire out my hand and overheat my flash. Yes it was fun! I was shooting with my flash on the hot shoe tilted up at 45 degrees with a diffuser. This provides nice soft light to help pop the color and fill in some shadows. The lighting varied from bright sun at high noon to light clouds (haze). Shooting in bushes it's hard to find good backgrounds so I shot mostly wide open to blur them.

This picture represents the exact moment of the musical artists release of emotion while on stage, they spend the hours before a show building nerves and excitement to release at the opportune time, just as the crowd goes wild. Having pushed past security this shot was taken at the Ferntree Gully Hotel September 30th, and what an event it was!

In the performance of the Nutcracker, the Snow Queen is proudly leaping through the air.

I live in a very old house at the moment. This is a window that, clearly, was once an exterior window. It now looks out from a bedroom closet into a sunroom. The lighting in this little window adds to the isolation of this closet from the outdoors.

I love black and white, and even enjoy black and white pics of flowers. I know some folks think a flower should never be done in BAW, but to me it looks great.

Taken on the 9th of August this year as we travelled up Franschoek pass. Spotted this Yellow Billed Kite (I think) and tracked it until it was in the blue portion of the sky.

If you're hungry enough, is not scared even bigger than yourself

This picture is for me one of the best I took so far, I made this one in Mortsel close to the city where I live.

One of the most memorable nights of my New York trip was spent waiting for the sun to set and light to fade for the shot I had pictured in my head. Temperatures dropped as low as -8°C which made operating the camera very difficult and my waiting family very impatient. ?Got the shot?? was shouted from behind me and after 40 minutes of waiting, with the click of one button I was beyond pleased to turn around and reply, ?Yep, got the shot?.

I took this photo while walking at a local park. There is a bridge crossing a river, and these icicles were wrapping around the metal on the bridge. I thought it to be a great opportunity for an isolation close up shot of nature's art.
