KODAK MOMENT of the Day

This is a picture of my dog enjoying the snow in winter time. He loves playing out in it. Living away from home because of university is hard and I miss it so seeing photographs like this makes me happy and he looks so happy. This photograph was taken in winter 2014 in my garden. It relates to the theme because it is an animal that is my pet.

At times we can all feel alone and blue. Sometimes we try to see the big picture and end up feeling overwhelmed. Often it's just a case of trying to focus on the small stuff. Small steps.

My 78 yr. old widowed mother is quite spry for her age and loves her Jacuzzi tub. When a entire bottle of bath soap fell in the tub, the suds got a little out of control before she could shut the jets off. I caught this quick snap in between gales of laughter!

The Border Roads Organization is incharge of maintaining roads in this mountainous terrain. Known for their trademark humour depicted on road signs, I expected to see some in Changla, the 2nd highest motorable road somewhere in Ladakh. What I did not expect is perhaps a board saying "Thanks" and nothing else& It seemed to be telling passersby, "Thanks" for visiting us as well as "Thanks" for going away. I have taken this shot in May 2013 at Ladakh in India.

A seal pup at the Bronx Zoo in New York woke up and had a yawn, then it cried out for its mother who was right behind him.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is something really special. I don't want to get all zen on you, but to be around and to touch trees where some are over 5,000 years old. Pretty damn amazing. The oldest tree in the world "Methuselah" is there. In fact these are the oldest trees in the world. They don't have a cloning root system like some plants, they have one root that grows. The roots are shallow, and without going to deep into explanation, the conditions are harsh up here, dry, its all alkaline, and rock. It's pretty amazing how these trees have adapted to basically grow from rock at 8,000 to 11,000'. Yes, right out of the Rock. The trees grow in soils that are shallow lithosols, usually derived from dolomite, sometimes limestone, sandstone or quartzite soils. Dolomite soils are alkaline, high in calcium and magnesium, low in phosphorus. These conditions tend to exclude other plant species, allowing bristlecones to thrive.

Meet my 48 day old son, Ujan Atig Pal (UjanAtigPal.com) who doesn't know what to do with his two hands. So he plays with them by himself & makes new poses always. He had to stay in an ICU at a hospital as he was a premature baby born at 29 weeks. Doctors said that usually night shifts were boring as they didn't have much work to do. However during the 37 nights that Atig stayed there, each night was memorable & not boring as they used to spend their time with him and see his new poses with his hands always. This time too he was posing in a new manner with two hands on his face and a naughty smile. I couldn't resist myself from taking this candid shot! By the way, he is a really tiny baby. You cant probably guess how tiny he really is from this pic as I have digitally zoomed in to show his mischievous smile.

I love my rescue cat Walter. I've had him for over 3 years and even though he's a bit odd, even for a cat, he is a handsome boy. He loves to go outside but hates the cold. Looking out the picture window in the early winter, Walter longs for warmer days to chase chipmunks!

The photo was taken in Banff Alberta 2013 I go to the mountains as often as I can its relaxing and peaceful and it always looks different depending on the light

Wonderful decorations in Maryland

Every year at Christmas time I enjoy driving around my home town and photographing the beautifully decorated houses with their colorful and twinkling lights.

Eloquent ornaments wait for their positioning on a Christmas tree.

I have an infatuation with cats:) I took this sitting on the couch with my cat, Miss Salt, enjoying the Christmas tree.

I enjoy the festive "spirit" that Christmas brings to my home. I try every year to add something special to my design.

I Love Christmas...! My home reflects the traditional reds and greens of Christmas. To me, this signifies the season of "extra" sharing and being with family.

SEASON'S GREETINGS !~

This picture was taken during Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at Sacred Heart Church in New Britain, CT. The church is beautifully decorated for Christmas every year, and the Mass is celebrated in the Polish language for the large community of Polish people living in New Britain.

This is an aerial type view of the ceramic tree my husband's grandmother made years ago. After she passed it was handed down to us. We put it out every year to remember her. This was taken just this year.

I just like to capture moments in time. My pass time hobby when not working is walking in the park, trip to the zoo and/or capturing pictures wherever I can. This picture was actually taken in my parents front yard. I zoom in and focused in on the berries and leaf with the sunlight bouncing off slightly. Nature pictures are the best. It's the simple things that are around us all the time that you can find the beauty in!

Found this pond after a beautiful snow, along a country lane. Very peaceful.

A burst of energy as my granddaughter enjoyed the sunset in Morro Bay, California.

We went to Chaco Canyon hoping to photograph the Milky Way over Fajada Butte...clouds began to move in at sunset and the colors were amazing. No shots of the Milky Way that night but loved the sunset.

I love waterfalls. This waterfall at Letchworth State Park in Livingston County, NY, is beautiful at any time of year, but it was especially beautiful in the snow. Taken in December 2013.

One evening, I was walking down a street in my hometown, taking pictures as I traveled. I saw this lizard on the windowsill and thought it would be fun to see how close I could get before the lizard scurried away. To my surprise, the lizard seemed entranced by the light from the shop window and was too distracted to notice or care about my presence.

Often heard before it is seen, a Red-shouldered Hawk is captured in flight.

Taken on a January cold evening. I wanted to use light to illustrate a movement of traffic on this busy junction.

This is a beautiful picture of my friend showing off her first time application of henna.

We normally don't have owls in our front yard tree just few feet from my front door one May morning. Mom was found first then 2 weeks later the owlets were found. I was lucky enough to get them all together. Mom was normally hanging out elsewhere in the tree.

As my granddaughter Leah was playing in the window, I asked her to just look out the window for me. What beautiful innocence I beheld.

this beautiful huskie named Roxie walked by my house one day in the middle of a snowstorm.

This picture was taken in March 2014 on the American side of Niagara Falls, NY, just above the rapids. To me, it looks like a wild-haired snow pony leaping out of the rapids. Can you see it?

The picture is just beautiful! Things like that do not happen very often in Vienna.

This is a portrait of a close friend of mine. It is special to me because it shows a beautiful, fun-loving person with deeper level of emotions.

I find classic automobiles to have a design that incorporates a blending of style and shapes that seems to have been lost in the design of contemporary vehicles. Even small details, such as the grill and hood ornament of this old Packard can be striking.

Kiryu, an hour outside of Kyoto, Japan, still has many traditional craftsmen. This young woman is the daughter of a lifelong paper maker and is making paper for the middle school diplomas.

This was the first photo I took with my new camera (panasonic G1) after moving up from using a camera phone, photography is now fast becoming a big part of my life. It was taken at home after everyone had gone to bed to I had time to perfect the exposure.

This is Roo, she's a 3 year old whippet. This was taken out on a walk. I love this picture because it shows her confused emotion and makes me laugh.
