KODAK MOMENT of the Day

To me this photograph illustrates the beauty and romance of traveling by a steam powered locomotive in the 21st Century, I feel it also highlights the gap between people in poverty and people living a well off life as the person in the photograph lives under the bridge the train is on along with his family and other families. I took this photograph while on leave traveling from Cape Town to Simon's Town in South Africa on 7 July 2013. If feel my photograph relates well the travel and vacation theme because the steam powered travel is a growing, powerful and unique form of transport for tourists to use in 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa.

My daughter, my first born just turned 12. I asked her for a kiss and she said no so I said fine lets take a selfie, she said yes so before I snapped the picture, I stole a kiss

Here is Sam, my dog's best friend and a most loved hound amongst the neighbourhood. Here I am dropping him off home as the sun light created these stripes upon him. With his obedience and my orders he managed to pose for about 3 seconds. This was taken during the heatwave in London of August 2013. It relates to the theme as Sam is a beautiful Labrador dog - a pet.

I took this on the Leforge Bridge over the Huron River in Ypsilanti Township MI, was very foggy this morning!

The Deep Ellum arts festival, in Dallas, Texas is a wonderful display of talents. This lady had her face painted with a purple butterfly and accented with costume jewels. Behind her is another example of the painterly talents of the event.

A mature white ibis (on the right) gives an immature white ibis (feathers still changing color) a surprise peck of its beak perhaps indicating to get a move on.

I've never seen a cluster of mushrooms before so I had to capture it up close.

I shot this photo in Dutchess County NY, I was struck by the rich primary colors of the scene. I have been making photographs of walls, colors and shadows for many years.

This was taken while we were in Dubuque, Iowa, while we were on the American Queen paddle wheel steamship, going down the Mississippi River.

This is a favourite of mine as St Paul Dome is contrasted against the deep sky. The Dome, and iconic London landmark looks imposing and impressive. 35mm Tri X in D76 with a 25 red filter.

Its special because it was taken after the local Boy and Girl Scout troops had worked a Tri-County Tri Athlon in our area. They carried the Kayaks and Canoes up a hillside and lined them up to load on the truck. Hard work but they did it.It was taken at Terrapin Creek in Piedmont Al.in 2012.

Took this photo at a local historical village one evening in early August. I love taking macro photos of insects and have a special fondness for bumblebees. This little guy was extremely cooperative!

This was an exercise in exposure and composition. I thought about adding some shadow for contrast but decided to stay true to the white on white concept.

This is our cat Motor ( named because he purrs so loud). He is our protector. He can run off even the biggest of dogs to keep his family safe. He was a stray that adopted us and has become a very special part of our family. At the time this picture was taken it was during the winter and he was warming himself on top of my van watching over us and keep us safe. He is such a lovable cat and our pride and joy!

This is mom & son's first ever sunset on the beach. We had been to a secluded beach in Maharashtra where my son was amazed to see the sunset.

I took this picture at my fathers farm. The ant is a Camponotus Cruentatus, one of the biggest species in Europe.

This is a friendly Ring Billed Gull who comes by for a visit.

I enjoy our hummingbirds in our back yard each year. This guy was headed straight for the flower we had planted in the spring hoping it would attract and feed them. They are quick and so not easy to capture, but perseverance paid off.

This is Dwight Rogers. His family has been farming on Chandler Mountain Alabama for decades. As I spoke with him and captured his photo, I wanted to share this black and white photo of a wonderful spirit.

This picture was taken when I was on holiday last year December. My dad and I were going for a walk and his footsteps caught my attention. They remind me that even when I may be feeling lost, my sure-footed and confident dad will be there for me.

This picture is special to me because I love photography and I love my dog. but in this picture there is 2 things at ones which makes it such a good picture in my eyes. I took the picture last week when my dad got back from Afghanistan on R&R. Me, my mum, my dad, and Bruno (dog) went down to Cornwall for the week. It relates because its of my pet dog doing what he loves best.

It's a picture of my old man and my baby sister. Was taken out on our driveway two years ago with my Canonet Rangefinder. Love this picture, one of my favorite shots, captures a warm embrace from a loving, hard working father.

American bald eagle taken in staten island, NY

My name is Holly Rose Stones, I am 21 years old. I am a Fashion, Surrealist & Conceptual Photographer from South Yorkshire living in London. This image was taken for a musician friend of mine named Michael G Moore. The concept was derived from his personality of being an animal whilst creating music, hence the reason why he is sat in a very animalistic 'ape' like stance. The sheets were to represent the emotion of music, how it is unbelievable chaotic and can put anybody in a trance like state. I wanted to represent the power and passion that he has for music.

The long legged gangliness of a young Sandhill Crane is clearly evident as its walks tentatively across the street in a rural development.

Beauty of nature

This tiny, colorful clown was a joy to the residents that attended the circus-themed picnic event that I photographed in April at a nursing home. The residents were thrilled to interact with the clowns and to dress up and have their pictures taken with them. It is amazing to see how a clown can turn a frown around!

This photo was taken a few weeks ago when visiting relatives in Canada. When we arrived I spotted the view of the muskoka chairs and the flag and thought it would make a good picture but the light wasn't right. Later after a large thunderstorm just as the sun was setting I went to try it and was quite pleased with the result.
