Beauty of nature

This tiny, colorful clown was a joy to the residents that attended the circus-themed picnic event that I photographed in April at a nursing home. The residents were thrilled to interact with the clowns and to dress up and have their pictures taken with them. It is amazing to see how a clown can turn a frown around!

This photo was taken a few weeks ago when visiting relatives in Canada. When we arrived I spotted the view of the muskoka chairs and the flag and thought it would make a good picture but the light wasn't right. Later after a large thunderstorm just as the sun was setting I went to try it and was quite pleased with the result.

I took this picture while at my friends cottage this summer. I had been watching the monarch caterpillars eating for days and this was the first butterfly I had seen that year. It was so pretty and photo worthy.

This was taken at sunrise at Haleakala in Maui in September 2012. It is special because it looks surreal. As the sun was coming up a Hawaiin chant was spoken that added a very spiritual quality to the experience.

In my back yard here in North Carolina, there are a few different kinds of dragonflies. I was amazed at this one letting me get so close to him. I was very careful and moved closer very slowly as I didn't want to scare him. Even if he flew off he would come right back. He didn't seem to mind me being there, so I was able to get close enough that his sectional eyes can be seen in the photo.

The first image of a sailboat I had ever shot with the evening sun in the picture. Image shot at Lake Hefner,OKC USA. Many people visit this lake to enjoy the outdoors.

My daughter in law took picture of Harley gazing over the fence looking at the horse across the road. Just a sweet expression that grandmothers all love.

I took this when I took my school trip to England. It is taken at the London Eye and it's an amazing attraction for tourists as myself.

San Pedro, Ca. has a park with a lovely park view of the ocean. This was a peek- a- boo of the ocean through a brick wall.

I was photographing in Santa Fe NM for my class. It was the end of the day and an amazing lighting storm came up. I thought it was a unique opportunity to capture the lighting. I shot over a 100 images to get this one. Timing is everything. This is a straight shot without the use of multiple exposures. It feels honest to me. I photographed it in August 2014. I put it in Artistic and creative because I feel like I made the photo with the help of nature but because I know my equipment I was able to make the image.

My son is an avid soccer player and athlete. He lives by the rule "play hard or don't play at all." This picture says it all.

This picture was taken late afternoon in Wisconsin during the month of August. Hummingbirds happen to be an interest of mine along with flowers. I believe both make beautiful photographs. Most of my photography involves nature. I am new to photography, and I was proud I was able to capture this moment.

Nature's bounty.

Beach Huts in Devon, England. Loved the vibrant colours and nostalgia.

This is a picture of my friends dog(Bartholomew) and made us both laugh a lot. It was taken at his house and fits a comedic tone because of the big human eyes on the dog fit his goofy smile.

A study in shallow depth-of-field. The apparent line at the pencil point is actually the "pencil thin" depth-of-field area of the shot that is in focus.

This picture makes me laugh. So little and so serious.

I shot this photo on the grounds of a camera club friend's summer cottage on Georgian Bay, ON. It was on a camera club weekend outing and the owner of the cottage had invited the whole group to hold our sunset shoot at his and his wife's cottage. We all really enjoyed the evening and were very grateful for our friend's hospitality. The young lady in the photo is a club member.

This was taken in my back garden, while I was making the most of the brief British summer sun. This little bee was flying from flower to flower, me following closely behind, but he kept hiding and diving into the centre of the flowers. Finally he landed on this single stalk, and allowed me to photograph him - well worth the wait in the end!

The image captures two types of prayer wheels, each containing the words "Om Mani Padme Hum".  It is said that anyone who recites the six syllables while turning the dharma wheel at the same time is equal in fortune to the Thousand Buddhas. While soliciting for some divine help, this old Ladakhi lady was eager to pose for a photograph in exchange for some money. In the cold high altitudes of Ladakh, this could perhaps have been her only source of survival in reality. I have taken this photograph in May 2013 in Lamayuru Monastery, Ladakh, India.

It is so beautifully colored to be so small. I took it in Sumter National Forest in SC on April 11, 2015. I think nature chooses to remind us of the remarkable beauty even in the smallest things.

It was a slow day at sales at a farmers market in St. Jacobs, ON, Canada. To pass the time two farmers were playing checkers in a most frugal way.
