In my back yard here in North Carolina, there are a few different kinds of dragonflies. I was amazed at this one letting me get so close to him. I was very careful and moved closer very slowly as I didn't want to scare him. Even if he flew off he would come right back. He didn't seem to mind me being there, so I was able to get close enough that his sectional eyes can be seen in the photo.

Santa Fe lighting
I was photographing in Santa Fe NM for my class. It was the end of the day and an amazing lighting storm came up. I thought it was a unique opportunity to capture the lighting. I shot over a 100 images to get this one. Timing is everything. This is a straight shot without the use of multiple exposures. It feels honest to me. I photographed it in August 2014. I put it in Artistic and creative because I feel like I made the photo with the help of nature but because I know my equipment I was able to make the image.

It was on a camera club weekend outing and the owner of the cottage had invited the whole group to hold our sunset shoot at his and his wife's cottage. I just love how the flower pops out at you against the white background. I took this at my sons house this summer. I was getting in the car and seen the beautiful flowers up against the house.
