I just received my new camera as a Mother's Day gift, and this was one of the first photos I took. It was taken without a tripod...guess I must have been 'super steady' that day.
The dandelions had not been rained on yet and were quite full--and the morning dew had them looking like diamonds in a jewelry shop window.

The simplicity of daisies lure me. They were loved by my grandmother and have always been special to me, and planted in any garden I've ever had. This photograph was taken in northern Tanzania while I was studying abroad during my junior year of college. For two weeks, each student from our group lived with a Maasai family in the plains just south of Arusha, Tanzania. Our group was present during a day-long wedding ceremony that brought together Maasai families from all over the region. This is very special to me because it was taken on our last visit to Pensacola Beach, FL before we moved from there in Feb 2010. Now I hear that the beach is getting oil from the Gulf disaster and that it may get worse.
