After sitting in a hide just outside their feeding location I spent all day taking hundreds of pictures with most of them being missed shots. There were few good ones but this was my favorite. Living in CA for a few years, I fell in love with Santa Monica. I loved shopping on 3rd Street and taking a walk down to the pier at sunset. This photo was taken recently in January 2012, while visiting CA. My good friend and I decided to take a walk and photo safari down in Santa Monica at sunset, when this beautiful scene appeared. It was incredible! Santa Monica Pier Sunset was photographed on a Contax 645 Medium Format Film Camera, using Kodak Ektar 100. I just love this film for the amazing colors! Josh is a 14 year old, 600 lb Black Bear that was rescued as a cub and can not live in the wild. His former home lost its permit and Josh has been staying at a rescue facility temporarily. Flamingo Gardens has been working hard for the past two years to raise funds and construct a new large habitat for Josh to live out the remainder of his life. His new home is an 8000 sq feet habitat with his own splash pool and bears cave - flamingogardens.org ? I am a proud volunteer bringing awareness of their noble work through my photography.
