My best friend, photo assignment partner on local road trips. The General or Vito. Never on a plane though. I travel to the desert a lot in California, Arizona and New Mexico with The General in the cooler months. My favorite place to photograph. This was taken at Kelso Dunes. The General rests atop Kelso Dunes in the Mojave Desert. Roughly 1hr 30 min walk through small dunes to the main dune, then another 1hr up the peak - about a 720 foot/219 meters climb to the top. In deep sand. Not bad for a ten year old General. I was snapping photos, turned around, and there he was, regal, king, watching the land below him. So happy. To me, this is the most beautiful lighthouses to photograph, but a bit of a challenging one. There is a fence all a long the area that is pretty high to jump so I had to place my tripod over the fence and hold onto it tightly to capture this shot.
