I took this shot in the subway in Manhattan, July, 2001. The model is my 15-year-old niece, Jenny. I heard the train coming, knew the shot I wanted, and Jenny obliged by leaning against the pillar for me just as the train pulled into the station. People often say, "That can't be New York! It looks way too clean!" WE LOVE NEW YORK!!!! and visit every summer. I desaturated the blues in this shot in order to play up the yellows and greens. This picture was taken through the window of a local shop called the General Store. The shop is very small, but it is loaded with antiques and nicknacks. They sell ornaments for the holidays and Betty is one of them.
