This photo was taken on November 29, 2008 at the Conowingo Dam in Maryland. It is one of a ten photo sequence that I was able to capture as the eagle came in to capture his prey. We were in the conference playoffs in Mississippi. It rained cats and dogs, but we kept playing. It was the last game of my son's entire life and he was stressed and sad. Every month I receive Runner's World magazine, and the first page I flip to is that month's "Rave Run" where they feature a beautiful place to run. The most recent month featured the Channel Islands National Park, about 20 miles off shore of Ventura, California. It has always been my dream to do a "Rave Run," so my boyfriend decided to plan a day trip to the island so I could cross that goal off my list. The beautiful February day provided a beautiful backdrop for our very own "rave run." We went for our run and he went a few steps ahead to capture the happiness that I felt as I lived out a dream. The picture is special to me as it was taken in my spiritual home the Masai-Mara, Kenya. It is a female cheetah using a termite hill to gain advantage to see over the plains. This cheetah also jumped onto the bonnet of our land rover giving us an incredibly close encounter. I placed it in 'Nature' as the picture features wildlife within its own environment.
