This photo captures the scene of an adventurous night, bivvying out by the glacial lake under the majestic peak of Cerro Torre. The photo was captured on the 1st January 2015 in Patagonia, Argentina, and what a way to celebrate the new year! I think the photo shows an alternative view of travel, sleeping in amazing landscapes under the stars making the most of all 24 hours of the day. This beautiful mother Red-shouldered Hawk is resting and protecting her egg. She is in the Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary at Flamingo Gardens in Davie, Florida, unable to fly. A spider dining on a fly in the late afternoon sun, taken in my backyard. After I noticed the spider, I observed it and took photos of it for around 15 minutes, trying to catch it at the perfect moment. It was very special to be able to capture this ordinary but beautiful scene in nature. Once I got the image into the computer, I fell in love with the contrast between the cool colors of the left side of the frame and the warm setting sun on the right side.
