This picture was taken in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. It's my favorite place on earth and the reason I got into photography in the first place. I've visited the country several times and always got caught up photographing monkeys. I finally got myself a macro lens and decided to spend a day with frogs. This little guy was sitting peacefully and opened his eyes just a crack to say hello when I started to take his picture. He stayed that way for several minutes and then I left him alone to sleep again. I think this photograph speaks volumes about the variety of the country's ecology -- big and small. When I saw this clock, I knew immediately that it will make a good picture. I waited for about 30 minutes until the right combination of people sat in front of it. I think the wait, despite my girlfriend's objections, was worth it. This picture is of the September 11th Memorial of Lights in NYC. My fiance and I noticed hundreds of white things moving around in the beams of the light towers; as we approached they became even more apparent. My fiance said to me, "What do you think that is??" In the midst of my emotion, I responded, "Oh, it's like all of the souls!" We both got choked up. When we were closer, we could tell that there were hundreds of bugs flying around in the light. If you look closely, you can even see them in my picture. This picture makes me feel sad, but proud and so thankful that my loved ones escaped physically unharmed... This photo was taken a few days after Christmas 2005, at Spray Lakes, B.C. It was the first Christmas that my family was somewhere where they could go canoeing, and they did!
